Description

This restaurant is billed as "Italian food with an attitude" and serves excellent dishes at a reasonable price. The menu is a combination of the classic and the imaginative, with appetizers like grilled portabella mushrooms, and entrees like gourmet pizzas and "angry pasta"; fettuccine with white wine sauce, ham, tomatoes and mushrooms. Several seafood items are also available. Expect a typical meal with a glass of wine. As far as the atmosphere, think elegant yet unpretentious.

First time dining. The food is excellent, service was outstanding but the place needs cleaning up. We were seated by the window, not only 1 inch of dirt on the window seal but a bunch of dead bugs. Woud love to come back but was a little turned off by the dead bugs which had obviously been there for quite a while. Agian, great food. Guess we should have been seated outside.

Romeo's is the convergence of Olive Garden and Keep Austin Weird on Barton Springs Road. It can be fun but it is not Italian or even Italian American.

Serviceable Italian with a high "kitsch-factor".

Olive Garden rejects for food. You can do better opening a can of Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee.

Delicious food, great jazz music at night and the dimly lit dining room or outdoor seating make this a romantic choice for dates, or a great girls night out choice! The wine selection is decent and while even the lasagna is good, I recommend the stuffed shells. Stay away on Valentine's Day or be prepared to wait 2-3 hours.

Pretty tasty Italian. Standard fare, good service. Velvet Elvis decor - hey, it's Austin. Pianist doing lousy Sinatra? Well, yeah, maybe I'd rather have gotten the food as take-out.

We have had great meals here and then the last time was not great. The food was just okay, the service was not good at all, and the atmosphere in the area we sat was just lousy. With all the great restaurants in Austin, we will not go back to Romeo's.

Personally, I like Romeo's uber-cheesy decor, probably because it serves as your notice to relax and not expect too much. The waitstaff are friendly and helpful. But I'm at a loss to understand how you can have an "Italian" restaurant without serving minestrone soup or providing Italian artisan bread or focaccia to dip in your olive oil.
