Went there for the first time without reading any reviews and should have read them first. THE SERVICE WAS AWFUL. Our drink order was wrong twice. The waiter was so put off by his job, that he didn't bother to fix the situation or apologize. We left without paying and will never go back! Save yourself time, and go eat at a place that actually values the people that spend there money there. The view isn't worth it.
The staff takes a great place and gives it a negative vibe & rotten experience. From the hostess stand - who would not help find a nice table or attempt to be friendly. Place was 35% occupied and we were stuck in a back room without a view! Then to the waitress - who got the order wrong, and refused to fix it, but felt better to argue over why she had got it right. Then to the kitchen, who got the food wrong (as fajita order) and to the manager - who came by and asked what we needed, stating we had asked for him, and we did not. Everyone was a bit uncomfortable.. Go by and enjoy the view, and you will enjoy it.
This place is beautiful BUT the service is TERRIBLE. The food is ok but that's cause I know authentic Mexican food. Anyway, the service is the worst. I keep going HOPING the service gets better but sadly it never does and it ruins the night for my guest. Good luck on your visit.
We went this past weekend to The Oasis and it was wonderful. We had Fajitas for two and Margaritas and they were great. We arrived around 7:30, so we were there for the sunset. It was a very beautiful sunset. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful day! Many people were there but we didn't have to wait long at all. Also, I have been to The Oasis before and everything was perfect then, too.
I just read Bravedog's review and must respectfully disagree. There are good days and bad days; I've had better and I've had far, far worse. As with everything I would simply recommend anyone try the place. If the food sucks, send it back until it is prepared right.
I've been to the Oasis quite a bit and have had a couple of not so great experiences. That said the positive experiences (and I am talking about the FOOD, dawg)definitely outweigh any negative.
The place beats the competition (read Carlos and Charley) right into the ground.
The only things this place has going for it are the music and the view. The food is probably the worst Tex-Mex EVER. Taco Bell is far superior to the quality of the food here, and I am being serious. The place is so crowded, they are probably not capable of making a quality meal... it is similar to a buffet or cafeteria food. On top of this, the workers there are rude... they are overwhelmingly arrogant. The place is really designed for tourists. I brought my out of town guests here in order to show off the area, and it was quite an embarrassment for me. Do NOT take anyone here to eat the food. DO NOT be tempted to stay if you want to check it out. Maybe show up with your guests and show them the view and then leave as soon as possible.
Please do not go here for food. Austin is known for its great food. Unfortunately, this place is just an embarassment.
This Clarksville restaurant, opened in 1975, manages to stay on Austin's dining forefront because of the innovative cuisine created by
chef David Garrido. Begin with one of his signature appetizers, perhaps Oysters on Yucca Root Chips with Habanero Honey ...
