Costa Messa Restaurant, McAllen

I have always liked Costa Messa, but was very disappointed this last time. The service was good, but the quality is starting to slip and the NOISE! There was a group of CACKLING women and no one would tell them to lower their SHRIEKING. The wait staff and hostesses refused to tell them anything. So we had to SHOUT to each other in order to have a conversation. Needless to say we packed our food to go and will not be going back.

Great service! OK (too sweet) margaritas. Salsa selection with chips is great. Guac is poor. Overall tasty and fun atmosphere!

highly recommend the place, best food, best service

This place was highly recommended by several of my co-workers and I have to say the food is average, and the service is pretty good for the RGV. The font size on the menu is too small, so bring your reading glasses. There’s nothing at this restaurant to write home about.

Simply put, this is a great place to eat a LOT of Mexican food for a low price. We've never been disappointed. Service is good and they are usually busy.

I have only been there once, and it was during the busy lunch hour time. I have to say that they did not take very long to bring out my food. The atmosphere was great. I ordered the seafood soup, or caldo de Marisco, and it was fantastic. It has been the best seafood soup i have had here in the Rio Grande Valley. I see myself going again, infact I think I will go right now. If you go, I just want to say, Provecho.

I was very satisfy with the food, the drinks, the service. No many places know how to make chile reyeno, here it is good. some times the mariachi gets too loud, but hey, you want Mexico’s impression, you got it.

Believe me I know Food! I am not easily impressed. Their service is excellent, the chile sauces are awesome, these folks are not stingy with their food and the prices are great. As for Taste, it's as good as its going to get. The waiters are all friendly. I recommand the Beef Fajita Botanas, in fact their Cabrito is very good for not being a Restuarant that specializes in Cabrito. If you want FRESH tortillas just ask the waiter for them(Tell him it will reflect in his tip) I take a lot of my out of State clients and ALL have been very impressed. It's a Tex-Mex Restuarant, the food is unique. This Restuarant does not deserve a one-star, I also agree, the person that recommended "La Mexicana" must own that restuarant. Ordering Sea Food at a Mexican Restuarant is NOT very smart.... it's like ordering Sushi at a Steak House, don't expect for the Sushi to be the best in town at a Steak House.

This is easily the best restaurant in McAllen! It is the most authentic Mexican food I have ever tried. Service was excellent. The waitstaff is extremely courteous and helpful. The person saying La Mexicana is better must own it or work there, because it does not compare to Costa Messa. It's not just me, but everyone I know that has gone there loved it, including TEXAS MONTHLY, which has reviewed them as one of the best of the best in Texas. Go there, you wont regret it.

Service was great and the food was right up there with mom's cooking.
