A popular Corpus Christi eatery, the decor at this restaurant is strictly \"old fishermen's hangout\" and the menu is simple, consisting mostly of various shrimp entrees, the local catch of the day, and wonderful burgers. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
Went there during a day trip to coast. There were six of us in my party and we all ordered something different. It took and hour and 15 minutes to receive our food and the order was wrong and not to mention cold. I am sure that it is a cool place to hang out and look at the bay but the food was awful and the service was terrible. I will never eat there again and I will warn anybody going that way to avoid the place.
We ate there this weekend and it was great! Not fancy, casual and nice which is what we like. The view is the best. Get there early enough to watch the sun set. The food was fresh and delish! We had to wait in line but not too long. Sat at a table on the water. The place was clean and staff friendly. Only thing I would suggest they change is that it is cash only. They have an atm machine there so that helps. We will go there every time we go to the coast. We give it a thumbs up for sure. PS You can check out their web site to see their menu. And they have Scoopys next door. Good Bluebelll ice cream.
Very good lunch place with well prepared seafood. Not fancy, but great atmosphere with even a huge fireplace for cold weather. We went early in the day, so the frying oil was not quite hot enough and the panko-breaded shrimp were a little greasy, but good. This is the best fast food in the Padre Island area. Three and a half stars for the restaurant, 4 stars for the ice cream place adjoining, 4 stars for the view.
Really good fish and really good shrimp. Good prices and Larry the main cashier is a character! You might have to wait in a line, but its worth it and the food comes out quick. Definitely beats out the high priced grilled seafood places that abound in Port A.
We were at Padre Island this past weekend, and asked several folks where to eat that was close and this seemed to be the choice. The location is very cool, next to the bridge between Corpus and Padre, right on the water. They also have an ice cream place next door, Scoopys, that was a big hit with my wife and kiddos. The food was good, but not great. The fries were excellent, but the fried fish and shrimp were just average. The grilled snapper was excellent, but it is hard to mess up snapper. My main problem with the place is that you place your order as you walk in (and wait in line for a while since they have only 1 cashier). They also do a terrible job of cleaning the tables, which is a problem as the place is popular so you just stand around like a vulture waiting for a table to open up.
