Island Cafe & Smokehouse, Port Aransas

We ate at the Island Cafe, Feb 2012. The seafood platters are as good as anywhere and modestly priced. I especially liked the Fish. They serve American Style food, with all the cafe favorites.

We love this place! The staff are friendly, the food is reasonably priced, serving sizes are good, and the place is clean. We used to go to Port A in October, and even then, the tables filled up for breakfast. Many locals eat here, which is a sure sign that they'll be around for years. Their menu is pretty typical home cooking, and everything we ordered came out quickly and was delicious! Since our motel didn't offer breakfast, we were very happy to have found the Island Cafe, and ate there every morning of our stay in Port A.

Affordable for the whole family. We went everyday for a week. They could use a few more waiters, but the food and price are right.

Came for breakfast, and loved the food. Generous amounts, not much money. For a long time establishment, it was very well kept up, clean and neat. But for Spring Break, they probably should have doubled their staff! Our waitress (one of two) was running around like crazy trying to keep up, and we fetched our own coffee refills. But we'll still be back!

Best breakfast on the island so far!

I've eaten at the Island Cafe and their sister restaraunt The Seafood Express many times. Our family will take a meal there at least once a day, during our visits to the Island. Pete and Dora are like family to all the patrons, and they never forget a face or a name. They will prepare your catch for you, if your a sportsman, and their menu and daily specials have something for everyone. Don't miss out on a real HOMESTYLE dining expiereance. If your in a hurry, and want some delicious take out for the beach or the boat or to enjoy in your room, Go to the Seafood Express on the drag. I'm finicky about take out seafood, but I've never been dissapointed with the quality of food from either of these places. James Nowlin Jr. Waco, Texas.
