Heard about the place from another Winter Texan who said it was a good place to eat. We gave it a try for lunch on the way back to Port Aransas from seeing the Whooping Cranes out by Goose Island State Park. We sat on the second floor overlooking the marina, great view worth the price of lunch.
My wife had the shrimp quesadilla lunch special with a bowl of gumbo. I had the shrimp and oyster lunch special with a bowl of oyster stew. My wife said the quesadilla was good and had nice pieces of shrimp in it. The gumbo was tasty with just a bite of heat for seasoning. My shrimp and oysters came breaded and deep fried--very good. French fries were nice and crispy with a good seasoning on them. The fries were on the less than hot side but warm enough. The stew was what I expected out of a oyster stew, a few oysters with a milk base, maybe a little thin but was good. With two drinks lunch and tip came to under $30. Not bad for a good lunch and a great view.
I would recommend it to anyone interested in a little more upscale than some of the restaurants I have tried in Port A but not too fancy. Real nice atmosphere overlooking the boats. My wife and I will be going and again. We would recommend it.
We just visited Charlotte Plummer's this week and we thought it was so good that we went back a second evening to try another entre. The service was great and the food was devine! Our only slight disappointment were the drinks - our Gin and Tonic's were a bit bland for us. Other than that I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great view. Service is very good. Had rib-eye steak with baked potato. Steak was cooked the way I wanted however, there was not one grain of salt or seasoning on it. Very strange to have such a well cooked steak with no seasoning. Another minus is the salad bar is downstairs and the stair case is quite narrow so only one person can use in one direction at a time. Will go back, but would probably sit downstairs or forgo the salad.
the food at charlotte plummers is absolutely horrible for the price. The sea food platter (large) had 2 pieces of fish that was totally nasty. some king of breaded seabass with a black blood film on the side of the fish. the oysters were small (no extra served) and were mushy. The best part on the plate was the baked potato and the pre salad bar. I will never set foot in that place again.
We go to Rockport once a month and usually eat at Charlotte Plummer's every visit. In August, our food was not good so we skipped going in September. We tried it again in October and we had a very good meal and the service was good, too. Guess it has it's ups and downs like everything else but for the price of their meals it should be good every time.
We were in Rockport over the Memorial Day weekend and ate at CP. It has got to be the worst dinner I have had in a very long time. The young man waiting our table was nice and did the best he could, but no amount of good service could make up for poorly cooked (seasoned) and cold food. I will definitely NOT recommend this place. It's a shame, too, because the view/atmosphere was enjoyable--food was way less than desireable!
