U & I Restaurant, Corpus Christi

best place in town!!! great food, great atmosphere, attentive waitstaff, and best of all, affordable!!

Reading the recent reviews, we were skeptical to visit the U&I. However, we decided to go ahead and try for ourselves. We arrived at 6:00pm on a Saturday evening and were seated immediately. Our server arrived promptly and took our drink order and returned within 5 minutes. After a short while we ordered dinners which again arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The meals were hot and prepared as ordered. Overall our experience was worth noting and writing this review. The food and service were very good with no complaints. We did not encounter the notorious Sophia and perhaps she was no longer there. So, go ahead and give the U&I a try. We think you'll enjoy it.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I have never had any problems with the service. Waiters are always great. I have never seen a roach, and I have NEVER received a cold or burnt steak. I say you try again, some waiters (like in any place) are just there for their shift and forget the customer service.

I would recommend this resturant to any one either.. it has been 5 yrs since me and my husband went there. We went once on a recommandation we had poor service the waitress wanted to hurry up and leave beacuse her shift was over and never came back. Me and my husband went back some time after and we relized why we never went back so soon after the first time.. bad place to go.. CFS /cicken fried steak.tasted like it came from at a school cafeteria..

Knew better then order oysters in June but was hungry for combo shrimp and oysters and server praised dish saying oysters flown in every day. Meal served after 25 minute wait and 3 oysters fit in a teaspoon and was mostly crust. Could have bought larger shrimp at 7-11. Returned the meal declining another order. the server didn't say he was sorry or offer any excuse almost like he was used to the complaint. By this time my party of 7 had half completed their meals. A little late to re-order. When my wife, she had a chicken dish, and I checked out the hostess included 20% gratuity on the bill and give change without asking. Since we had left tip on table I was not going to contribute another 20%. In a nutshell we had very slow service, mediocre to poor food, and a very rude cashier. Plenty of excellent resturants in Corpus Christi don't waste your time at this one!

I do not recommend this place my wife and I stop there because the place looks good everything was going well until they served us the food.My wife wispered to me is that a cockroach under the the table it shock us my sister in law couldn't believe what she witnessed ever again going to that place also too many flies cant leave your plate unattended because they can stop there on your food. Very Bad !!!!

I would not recommend this Restaurant to anyone, I was recently there to enjoy what I was hoping would be a nice dining experience and good food. I can assure you that I was disappointed in a major way. The service was less than desirable, the salad dressing was watered down, and the meal in general was not an experience of find dining that I would like to try again. As I went to pay, there was a cock roach the size of a car waiting for me and my party at the cash register! The manager acted like this was an every day occurance. My sister killed the nasty thing, and we were left in shock, that the manager sprayed the counter wiped it off, and asked for our money! No apology, no discount, no ANYTHING!

A coworker took me there for lunch. She said we had to arrive early or it would be packed. The services was phenomenal. Our server was pleasant and joking around. You get a lot of food. My friend recommended the chicken fried steak. It came with salad, soup, 2 veggies, and fresh rolls. I loved the veggies and the rolls. The chicken fried steak was good too. The soup was seafood gumbo, not a favorite. The salad was lettuce and tomato with dressing. Overall, I would recommend this place based on my experience. Good food and excellent service.

I took my son (home on military leave prior to his going to Iraq) and his wife to this restaurant. The food was terrible. Our waiter was very pleasant. I could not eat my meal. My son could not eat his and my daughter-in-law found a hair in her salad. The manager was rude. I have told everyone about the poor quality of this restaurant. It was one of the worst meals that I have ever had the misfortune of eating. I do not understand how it has remained open.
