I will never eat here again, the service sucked my wife and I went there with some friends on our summer vacation. A seafood place without oysters on the half shell! We had them in June in San Antonio. The waitress told us they only have them in months that end in R. Next we asked for the rib eye we got a prime rib. We sent it back since that was not what we asked for. My buddy opens the tinfoil for his bake potato and the potato is rotten. Well he got the replacement potato after he was done eating. The zucchini were bitter and nasty none ate that. And then the waitress got an attitude when we sent the rib eye back everyone else was done with their food and they were ready to leave and have a good time. She told her boss we ordered the prime rib. On a good note; the appetizers were good and everybody did enjoy the broccoli and carrots. My son did enjoy the yellow fin tuna. And the Bloody Mary hit the spot.
We went there on a Sunday afternoon, the lady at the front was rude (ONE OF THE OWNERS?), they sat 15 groups that came AFTER US before we were seated (a party of six and a child), we were there for 2 hours and still didn't have food. One waitress picked up french fries off the floor threw them away then started getting plates ready to serve without washing her hands. Table next to us got there food before we got our appetizers and they had the same waitress and were seated after us. The tuna was a tiny bowl and we ended up spending over $200 for 6 people. Granted there were 4 mixed drinks and two beers, but really this wasn't Red Lobsters! We are locals and we were very VERY DISAPPOINTED and it was obvious the front lady didn't care either. We was more concerned about one lady in our group being carded rather than service. 15% gratuity was added on parties of 5 or more...that is a little low for industry standards. They are getting one star because we can't give 1/2 a star.
Have been to Virginia's several times, and it is a MUST do anytime I'm in Port A. Best, best, best Mahi Mahi ANYWHERE on the Texas coast (in the state for that matter). Atmosphere is great. There's a reason there is almost always a wait to eat here... it's because the food is consistently GREAT and nowhere else gives you the on-the-bay experience.
Had the snapper with their special salsa verde, and found the food exquisite--well-prepared, well-presented, and well worth the drive from the Houston area to find it. The service was very good but not overly solicitious, the view was beautiful, and the general ambience, al fresco, not at all offensive in any way. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and can recommend Virginia's readily.
