I agree the good things said about this place, it is great and I also notice the restrooms how clean they are. We are from Freer and when we are in town we come here and eat breakfast. We used to go to Golden Corral the one on the corner of Williams and Stapes but the rest rooms stink, you can even smell them on some of the eating areas, so we quit eating there.

This place is awesome. Could use some interior and exterior updating though. It has GREAT prices and Excellent food. My USCG buddies and I have been going there at least once a week now. The breakfast plates and breakfast tacos, in particular, are awesome. Plenty of food and at an awesome price. If you like mexican food, this place is the best. You can get full on great food at a steal of a price.

My roommate and i have been going to this restaurant for over four years and we love it there. We love the waitstaff there. Not only is their food delicious but it is at a low price...i recommend this to everyone.

this place was the best restaurant I've been to in a while service took awhile but they got it done great food biggest pancakes in town and best flour tortillas in town? i will bet 1,000 dollars on that

Looking for the best flour tortillas in town? - go to El Palenque Looking for the best carne guisada in town? no fat, nice tender meet with lots of flavor? how about fajitas or breakfast? - go to El Palenque! The place gets very busy so go early for lunch. Service is great and the people friendly. I have tried several other Mexican restaurants and none of them compare except maybe Santiago's in Mathis.

NO SUCH THING AS A TACO BEING TOO BIG!

In response to the other review: You're in South texas, get used to it! These tacos are HUGE and Everyone I know LOVES THEM and Loves this place! I drive all the way ACROSS TOWN to eat here, breakfast anytime, AWESOME! Everything on the menu is awesome, the owners are the sweetest ppl, great prices, drive thru or eat in. Come in jeans or Pj's, but come before 2, they aren't open all day sadly. I wish i could pack this place up and take it with me to college!
