Friendly Faces and Delicous food even when its cold. Lol . The waitstaff are so friendly. They take care of everyone the same, regardless of race, style of family(mom n dad,mom with kids, kids etc..) Its always nice to get service with a smile and good food. Its a little pricey but that s what husbands are for..lol .
This is one awesome restaurant. I took my girlfriend and her family for lunch here and we got an exceptional service. Food was delicious. I think most would consider the food a little pricey but to me it was worth the price. If you see Brad (owner) around tell him what you think, he likes listening to critiques.
Historically, this has been the best seafood restaurant in a seafood town. They still buy the very best of the catch, but preparation has gone downhill. All the dishes are much overspiced and oversalted.
A little hot pepper goes great on shrimp or crab. A lot merely drowns it. Green spices can be great on fish or crab. But too much overwhelms the delicate flavor of the dish. Mesquite grilling or smoking is fine too, but overcooking or charring seafood on a mesquite fire just obscures the taste.
Water Street has gone to using large quantities of everything on their dishes --- lots of green spices, lots of hot sauce, tons of salt, and lots of smoking. The result is inedible crabcakes, shrimp that taste more burned than shrimpy, and fish that needs scraping before eating.
Their grilled platters bear no more resemblance to seafood than beef jerky does to beef steak.
If you must eat here, order the boiled shrimp, which the cook cannot mess up too badly.
Had dinner here tonite. Dessert of the Key Lime pie was first up. Large portion and very good. Half dozen oysters on halfshell. They were smaller, but good. I had the rib eye steak. It was good, but thin, approx 3/4 inch. A good steak should be 1 1/2 inch thick, in my opinion. I ate at the bar area and had very good service. Noise level was comfortable. Overall, the food quality was very good. The seafood items I could see at other tables, looked better. Is not a great idea to have steak at any seafood eatery!
Directly behind Water Street Oyster Bar is the Waterstreet Seafood Company (owned by the same folks) Great food! The crabmeat stuffed mushrooms are a great appetizer. The crawfish stuffed chicken breast is my favorite.
Always packed. Service varies. Have eaten at this place over the years due to small variety in CC and have always had average food i think. This past time however, i had the pasta jambalaya and it was excellent!
