I have no idea why people are giving such bad reviews. My expirance was a great one. I was treated professionally and respectfully as soon as I walked in. We were seated promptly, despite the place being very busy. We went close to closing time. Even though we where there close to closing time, they still brought out freshly cooked food. So, to whomever posted the food is cold and will make you sick is bullshit! They cleaned tables off as soon as the person left. They take your plates as soon as your done with them. They even ask you if you need a refill when your about 3/4 of the way done with your soda. The food is not all that great. If you wanted amazing food they why are you at a buffet? Shouldn't you be at a restaurant is you wanted amazing food. Come on people, its a fricking buffet! Of course the food wont be as great as a restaurants. The place looked shady on the outside, but once your inside it looks amazing! You would think your in a restaurant. I forgot it was a buffet at one point. All in all, I had a wonderful time in this buffet. I recommend this place highly. I know I will be going come very soon!
This place used to be great, but no More! I went with my aunt, my two sisters and my five year old daughter. We were taking my aunt out, who was from out of town. We were on our second plate and everything was great, until my sister found a big roach in her vietnamese noodles. We all became disgusted, especially since my daughter had a big plate of those noodles(their her favorite!) We called the manager, but she refused to give us our money back. She gave us a gift certificate instead. Does anyone want it, because we will not be going back!
I have been here multiple times when I am in the mood for chinese food and nothing that is too far away. They have raised their prices a dollar from before but its still decent. The food quality is average to above average but prices are a little much for the quality. The new renovations are inviting and the atmosphere is positive. Enjoy a meal when you just don't know what you want, you can come to fortune cookie and decide. You will always be back... haha
Food was cold and/or improperly cooked. I'm a fat guy and will eat anything, but could not stomach the raw bourbon chicken or the nearly ice cold General Tso's chicken. When I told the restaurant staff that they need to pay more attention to serving temperatures, they told me that they offer a microwave service for customers.
There are many Chinese Buffets in close distance to Fortune Cookie restaurant, I recommend you take your pick of any of them other than Fortune Cookie... unless you want food poisoning.
Ate there July 2 for my birthday dinner. Have been sick from stomach ever since 4 days now. The food was actully good but something there was not right. Wife & I have both been very ill. Thanks for the unwanted B-day gift. Price is also pretty steep $53.00 for 4 people for buffet is high. Sorry but we will not be back!!! No way this is the third rated Chinese Restaurant in SA. Mr Panda's on Bitters is much better.
Since moving back to San Antonio, I've been searching for good Chinese food and I found it here. Most buffets have one or two good items, however it seems you can't go wrong here, everything is absolutely delicious, the Chinese food and non Chinese food alike.
This is the best chinese buffet that I have been too in San Antonio. We have enjoyed it since we started going there in 2004. My boyfriend and I were happy when they reopened recently since they had closed to do some upgrades. Its really beautiful with the stained glass and they still have the giant fish tank with the gold fish. The main dining room is still there, but the area that used to be by the bathrooms with the mirrors on the walls in now where the buffet is. They have another little secluded area to eat and even a party room. They have kept the same menu and even added a little extra but you are paying for it since the price has gone up to close to $10 per person for the dinner buffet. Compared to that other chinese buffet down 410 that tries to have the same menu but everything tastes like grease come to Fortune Cookie to find out what it is really supposed to taste like!

Just around a bend in the River Walk lies a sprightly little restaurant that isn't sure what it wants to
be when it grows up. Eclectic hangout or pure San Antonio? You'll have to decide for yourself.
