House of Joy Chinese Rstrnt, San Antonio

We ve been eating here for years. The food is always good, even when we order take -out. Staff is warm and friendly.

There's nothing more enjoyable than House of Joy on a Sunday evening. The food is wonderful and the service is great. Try the sesame chicken- it's the best! I also recommend the hot and sour soup and crabmeat rangoon. You really can't go wrong with this place, it really is delicious :)

I have a debt of gratitude to the owner, Charles. Monday, June 6th of 2011, my friend and I went in and asked for help. We wanted to reserve a table for later in the evening. We also asked to have to go boxes to decorate for the women we were taking out. Charles gladly offered to help. He showed us around the restaurant and asked which table we preferred. Charles assured us that the table we picked would be reserved. Then he walked to the kitchen and gave us two to go containers. My friend, Kent, and I went home where we decorated the boxes and filled them with fortune cookies (with personalized fortunes!). We brought back the containers prior to picking up our dates and arranged for the waitress to bring them out after we had eaten. The table was secure, the food was awesome, the service was commendable and the behind the scenes help was unforgettable! Also the place was decorated very nicely! We took plenty of pictures. Charles, you're the man!

This restraunt is great. The food is really good(yummy, yummy), the service is fast, and the manager is very friendly and cares about customer service. You have to come out and try this place or you will be missing out. Thumbs up to the new management.

My family and I moved to San Antonio a year ago and have tried almost all of the Chinese Restaurants because we love Chinese food. Well it took us a while to find one that we liked. But we don't just like House of Joy WE LOVE IT. Everything we have gotten there has been more authentic and better tasting than any other Chinese restaurant in the San Antonio area we have been to--and trust me we have been to a lot of them. We just happen to stumble across this restaurant one day when we had to visit the Bexar County Tax Office off of Bandera Road. We stopped in and got some take out and cannot stop going back. They have the best Egg Drop Soup I have ever tasted. We also love their Egg Rolls and Spring Rolls. And every entree we have ordered is perfect. Everything is always cooked fresh and tastes fresh. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food you receive. The staff is also just so pleasant to deal with. They are also quick at getting your order out to you. You don't have to sit and wait around forever like most places!! So anyone looking for an Excellent night out for Chinese or maybe just lunch should stop in and try it because I promise you 2 things---You won't regret it!! and you will go back for more!!!

This restaurant is under new management and is greatly improved. The service was fast and wonderful. The food is fantastic! It is very flavorful and attractive. I highly recommend this place.

I take back my previous review on this restaurant. I heard it was under new management, so I went there for lunch today. The food was MUCH better, the staff were pretty friendly, and the new manager isn't NEARLY as rude as the other manager. He is much friendlier. He even sat us at our table. We were the first customers there!

Must be under new management now - staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is really good and the service is quick. We will be back often.
