I have been a customer for over 5 years, the food has always been on par with the price and my kids enjoy the atmosphere. That was until Friday evening the 9th of August. I arrived with my wife, mother, father, brother, and 4 kids and were seated immediately... at a table for 6 in the back corner with 2 extra chairs and a highchair. We ask for the large round empty table in the center of the restaurant and were told there needed to be 10, to which I ask seriously? 9 is out of the question, I was then told it needed to be 10 adults, again I ask when this became a house rule because I had eaten at this table several times with my family. The hostess went to a manager who came over and told us that the table actually had a reservation for 6:00PM, although it was 6:30. The manager then told us the table was reserved for a party at 7:00. No effort was made to seat us at another table, although the restaurant was maybe 75% occupied and plenty of tables were available. My wife said we would not be squeezed into a table for 6 only to have the hostess tell her there were no other tables available, to which my wife replied we would leave. The hostess’ exact words were “then you have a nice evening” in her best fake polite sarcastic voice.
I will never return to Mamacita’s. In a town known for Mexican food, service is the only thing that separates one restaurant from another. The management and staff at Mamacita’s lowered their reputation to just another run of the mill enchilada joint. I will make it a point to relay this story to everyone. Although its obvious Mamacita’s is not concerned with just one customer, or just one family, I will have the satisfaction of knowing my money will not subsidize this type of institutional arrogance.
