Mama's Cafe, Live Oak

Where to start? The food was just so so, the lighting was so dim it was hard to even read the menu (which was falling apart), add the $1.89 price for a small glass of tea and you get a rather poor dining experiance. Other chains have more to offer at comparable prices.

We ate at Mama's Cafe tonight and were pleasantly surprised! great chicken fried steak (filled up the plate and beer battered) with delicious mashed potatoes and cream gravy. The chicken salad had extras like avacado and almond slivers. Yummy! They even served sweet tea. Everything was tasty, fresh, and hot. The atmosphere was laid back and there were mini juke boxes in the booths. We plan to try their breakfasts next time.

Absolutely the worst! My husband and I went there for an early dinner on Saturday, May 10th. The waitress was obviously very pregnant. That's okay. However, she wore a thin t-shirt stretch to the max over her bulging belly. Not very attractive. Then the food was cold...we had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was cold. When told to waitress...she argued. Nothing else. Someone had left an opened gravy or salad dressing on the floor under the table. My husband hit it with his foot (not knowing it was there) and whatever it was spashed up on his shoe, leg and all over the floor. I went for help. A girl came over and tried to hand my husband a dirty wet wrag to clean up with! He opted to use a napkin. On our way home the next morning we were both sick with symptoms of food poisoning. It was a total horrifying experience and we'll never visit that restaurant again.
