Bavarian Restaurant, Kirby

The food is fabulous but extremely disappointed that it is not wheelchair accessible especially being in the area of Ft Sam Houston with all the disabled veterans.....this was a huge disappointment, we tried to go eat there with my husband and there is no way he could get in, no ramp, nothing!!!!

Highly recomment the restaurant,exceeds all expectation,outstanding german food and friendly service. The the Applestrudel is the best I had since Germany.

My husband and I took our granddaughter and great grandson to this lovely restaurant on 2/11/12. We have tried other German restaurants in the area and New Braunfels, and this was by far the best German food we have had since we were station in Germany. We are going again tonight to take our granddaughter and her husband, as he was not able to go with us on the 11th. The portions are huge and prices are reasonable. This will definitely be one of our favorite places to eat in the future. They do appear to need additional wait staff, however, everyone was friendly and it was worth the wait.

If you want quanty, and lots of noisy kids when you eat this is the place. Having lived in German 12 years, this was a big disappointment. The servings are large, and I guess that is why it was over priced. This is very small (cozy) place and not really a place to take kids but some inconsiderate people don't care about the noise their kids make in public. The wait staff was nice enough, the menu great as long as you wanted a schnitzel, and really two meals for $30.18 isn't bad, that is if you like the food. For those who don't know German food, this might be an adventure, for us it was a waste of time and money.

Run- Don't walk to Bavarian Haus! My husband and I have tried local german resturants in San Antonio and New Braunsfel. We wanted to see what we had locally, so we searched and saw some favorable reviews for the Bavarian Haus. We decided to drive to Kirby to try it. OMG! I have no idea where the cook was trained, but our dinner was phenomenal. I tried the pork tenderloin schnitzel with brown mushroom grave and fried potatoes with onions. It melted in your mouth, the portion was enough for two and it was hard to stop eating. My husband had some sort of sausage (wurst) and we both enjoyed a few beers. I highly recommend the german wheat beer. We were awe struck with how amazing the food was and knew instantly this will be a place we frequent with our family and friends. This is a small charming resturant with outstanding service and off the charts food. We were so impressed we ended up meeting the cook. He was very friendly and talked about some of the memorabalia that is posted on the walls of the resturant. I don't trypcially take the time to write a review, but this is an experience worth sharing. Thanks to everyone who posted before me! We may have never known what a gem we had here.

The place was a quaint resturant. The food was fantastic with a large quanity. The owners and servers were very kind and welcoming. If you want true good quality German food this is the place to go.

Heard only great things about this place but were disappointed when our waitress had to spend 20 minutes at the register and left us unattended. Another waitress finally took our order and all was fantastic after that. Delicious food and huge portions of the best German food we've ever had! Waitress apologized for our wait and we went home very happy that we stayed. Will recommend this lovely place to all our friends! Hope to save room for dessert next time.

Good food. Decent service. Will eat there again.

My husband and I were VERY disappointed last night. There were three couples there before us at opening. One table of four were served their meals in parts, and one woman did not receive her dinner until the others were about through. One order was delivered to the wrong table and the server became upset and stormed into the kitchen. Another couple (after an hour and a half) never waited on got up and left. After an hour we finally were served. My BOWL of chicken soup had one tiny slice of carrot and a teaspoon of shredded chicken....99% broth. After 20 or 30 minutes the server finally brought me a CUP of soup (charged for a bowl.) After waiting about 20 minutes for our bill we got up and stood by the register to get someone's attention. The food was good....I will give it that. Cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone who does not have AT LEAST two hours to sit around.
