Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen
This is the first San Antonio location for Pappadeaux, a Houston-based chain of Cajun and Creole seafood restaurants. The rustically decorated building is huge and always crowded during serving hours, so expect a wait. The ambiance is bustling and lively, however and the food is served in generous portions. The kitchen serves a wide variety of fresh shrimp, crawfish, oysters, crab and other seafood, which they will prepare fried, blackened or grilled. Cajun dirty rice and red beans and rice are only two of the many side dishes; there are also four varieties of gumbo as well as etouffee and bisques. Desserts include simple Southern favorites such as key lime pie, chocolate praline cheesecake and a banana crepe ice cream sundae.
My wife got food poisoning at pappadeaux and was sick within 10 minutes after leaving the restraunt. She had to go to the emergency room and was the sickest I had ever seen her. She couldn t eat solid foods for 4 weeks. We provided all the documentation to Pappa s and they refused to accept any liability. Be carefull eating there.
I took my son and grandson here last week and was so disappointed when they brought my grandson s plate. I ordered him the kids mac and cheese and was upset that for an upscale restaurant, they brought him a bowl of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, $5. Church s chicken has better mac and cheese for 1/2 the price. As Chef Ramsey would say, wth are u doing serving this boxed #$%$? Freshness makes a restaurant, if customer wants to eat boxed #$%$, i m sure they can save themselves a trip and make it at home. So much for fine dining.
Was in the resturant the other day and had a very good experience. The Food was great, the atmosphere was very good................ Until I saw one of the ladies with her belly hanging out of her shirt. Later finding out that she was in fact a manager, made the situation repulsive and very unprofessional. I found out from my waittor that she goes by the name Nikki. I hope my next visit we don't see anything that would make me and my husband not enjoy our next dining experience.
The waiters will steal your debit card and use it to incur charges through Vonage. I would either use cash, a credit card, or stay away from this place altogether.
This Pappadeaux is trashier than most, and the wait staff, needless to say, cannot be trusted.
We have been to several Pappadeauxs in Texas but really enjoyed entertaining friends here in San Antonio. We had to remind them and ourselves about the portion sizes which can often feed two. The atmosphere was energetic yet appropriate for dinning and socializing. The menu was expansive and quite affordable. A good waiter will caution you about portion sizes for appetizers prior to ordering your meal otherwise have a great midnight snack.
This was out first time in San Antonio and found Pappadeaux quite by accident. It was across the street from our hotel.. what a find! We went to this eatery for lunch - it was packed at 1210pm! The outside of the restaurant impressed us, very well taken care of and loved the Bayou theme. We were greeted at the front door and seated almost immediately. Our server was friendly, service OK. The warm bread loaf was amazing! I almost fell off my seat when I saw my order coming at me - it was huge! I ordered the Cajun Duo which comes with shrimp creole on rice and a large piece of catfish, also on rice - best I have ever had! Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. We had to ask for lemon, no biggie. My fiance had the Sample platter which was all all deep fried... he wished he had ordered what I had. We could not finish our meals, did not order dessert. The lunch was more costly than usual for us, but you do get what you pay for. After we paid our bill and tipped him nicely, we never saw our server again. ??
I would go back though for the food - it was unforgettable! 4 stars.
Great food and great service! Everything we had was outstanding! On top of the friendly staff and good food, the place is also clean and inviting. Beautiful location! I definitely recommend this place!
My family celebrates our special occasions at Pappadeaux and have always have a great time. Recently, we had a wonderful wedding in the banquet room and had a small problem with how our party was handled. When we reported this to Corporate - they responded immediately. These people really care about their customer satisfaction and staff performance. (they don't ever have to worry about the food - it's always delicious!) Pappadeaux will have us as customers for generations to come! More weddings, birthdays, retirements...happy times at Pappas Restaurants!
Thank You Pappadeaux Corporate staff!
San Antonio, Texas
yes it is a great restaurant but when it comes to caring about their employees they dont now dont get me wrong i am not saying its a bad place i just wish their management would care more about having loyal employees instead of getting rid of us for stupid reasons i was fired for being sick and since i had no insurance and no money to go to the doctor they decided it would be in their best interests if i never worked there again
