My wife and I have been eating at this establishment since 1989 and not once - repeat NOT ONCE - have we ever been dissatisfied with the way the staff deals with the customer or with the quality of the food. When family visits we always take them to El Maracumbe for their first taste of authentic Mexican food and they always have high praise for the place. Those who find fault with the place must just be looking for something to complain about. Our great-granddaughter made the mother of all messes on one visit to the resturant and instantly there was someone there to clean it up and with a pleasant smile and kind words to our great-granddaughter.

El Maracumbe has great food. I have been going there with my family since the mid-80's. My favorite dish is either the shrimp or spinach enchilladas. It is also a good place to have birthday parties because it has 2 really nice party rooms. The service is always good too! :-)

So I went to this restaurant recently, and I was suprised to see the manager (maybe owner) refusing to seat a large party, because someone was critical of the restaurant on the internet. I would think he would want to change that person's opinion, but, anyway. So, I guess I'm about to join that lady and be banned from the restaurant, too. I have eaten here occasionally, and it's usually okay. But this time the entree was greasy, the beans too salty, and the chips were stale. The service was slow, and our food was not hot when it came to the table. The table coverings need to be replaced. They are kinda sticky and smell kinda sour. So I guess I won't be going back. Next time I will go to Chaco's on Perrin Beitel or Las Palapas on Walzem. Both have very friendly staff and the food is consistently good.

My family has been eating at El Maracumbe for over 20 years, and we love their food. We have always found the restaurant and restrooms to be clean. When we go, we try to get the same waiter everytime (Juan). He knows us and knows how we like our food. Last night Juan was not there. We didn't expect him to be. However, after the way we were treated last night, we will not be going back unless Juan is there. After our 3-yr. old spilled her lemonade all over the table, we had to ask FOUR different people over 10 minutes to get someone to bring a wet rag to wipe the table. Finally, after rolling her eyes at us, the hostess brought a rag to wipe the table. I was very upset by that time and cancelled our order. I asked to speak to the manager. When he came over, he was also rude and dismissive of our complaint. All I wanted was a rag for the table and new lids for the kids' cups. Instead I got no rag and large adult to-go cups that the kids didn't need and wouldn't be able to handle on their own. What has happened to customer service? Apparently, the customer is never right.

So I went to this place wondering what was up with all the reviews all of a sudden all over the place. What I found suprised me. 5 pm not very many people in the place. Friendly staff, large menu, food is good, not great, tortilla were a little tough, do not have homemade corn tortilla, but good puffy tacos. They do have a knat problem, probally from all the plants. But when I was finished, I asked to see the health inspection, I got pointed to one that was a year old, when I asked about the current inspection the young girl pointed to one behind her that you could not see. She hurriedly went to the back. Then all off a sudden that friendly staff turned on me. OUCH I hit a nerve.

How Or What kind of rights do we have as employers. When you have idiotic employees that can't have thir way. All you can do teach and train and hope for the best . We can't help he tantrums and childish behavior that some of these employees of ignorance show It gets to the point where you can't go with your profesionalism and try to correct situations hean on, without these ex employees sending the health department just to inconvince everyone. After getting written a notice by a proffesional health inspector that their accusation was false!! It's still Not Enough. Now they come attack us with lies on the Internet how pathetic it that. We can't control how cattle and crows act we just leave it to the man upstairs and go foward.

We ate here for several years and thought the food was very good. However after seeing they received 41 demerits (almost enough to close them), I found out their kitchen is filthy and so are the restrooms. The employees are nice but I would no longer let my pets eat there.
