Boudro's on the River Walk, San Antonio

It is not pleasant to be the voice of dissension here, but I have a very different take on this place. Crowded, over-priced. Tourist trap for sure.Prime real estate on the San Antonio Riverwalk which attracts lots of people. Inside is like sitting in a basement (which satisfies those seeking a hole in the wall kind of place, because that is what Budro's is.) The the food was not bad; it just wasn't that great. The highlight is watching the wait staff make guacamole at the table; and that's about it. This is the place to go if you want to impress someone by throwing down lots of cash. If you consider dining to be fine solely based on the price tag, this is the place for you.

The guacamole of course, but the pork with grits and fried jalepenos and shallot demi glace! AWESOME!!! Great Service!! Bread Pudding for dessert...hated that we had decided to share!!! PERFECT Weather. This will be an annual event!!

Last night I took my Mother and her friend to Boudro's. I would reccomend that you make reservations before you go. We chose to sit outside next to the the water. I found the ducks and fish very entertaining. If you want a romantic night I would reccomend sitting inside. It is very romantic with the dimmed lights and candles. I started off with the Strawberry Wine Cooler. It was ok, but I would have liked it made with a little sweeter wine. My mother's friend got the Prickly Pear Margarita. That was very good. I wish I would have gotten that drink. Next we got the Guacamole for Two. They make it right at the table. It was very good. It was smooth with bits of onion, tomato, serrano pepper and cilantro. The 3 of us shared it with chips and we had plenty. For our main meal my Mother and I ordered the Big tails, Little tails. The lobster tails and the Shrimp were wonderful. The sauce was pleasently spicy. The sauce had small crawfish tail in it. The crawfish tails were too over done. I picked them out. It all rested on a bed of couscous. That was very over done and did not taste good at all. I left that on my plate. If you don't mine leaving food on your plate than I would say this is worth buying for the loster tail, shrimp and sauce. My mom's friend ordered the Blackened Gulf Fish Fillet. It came with a roasted potato and grilled vegetables. I tasted the fish and the rosemary potatoes. They both were wonderful. Just enought spice to make it exciting. My friend said that the grilled vegetables were good too. We ended our meal with thier Louisanna Bread Pudding with whiskey sauce. The waiter brought out 3 spoon so we could share the desert. It was very soft and sweet. The sauce had a hint of whiskey. It was enough for 3 people. A very rich desert. Our waiter was very attentive and knew the dishes he was serving. I wish I could have gotten his name. The other workers there seemed very friendly too. We really enjoyed our evening. Thank you to all that work at the Boudro's.

The second night in San Antonio we walked up to Boudro's and they were full. The next night (Monday) we made reservations, are we glad we did. I would not have wanted to miss this restaurant. Although I can't stand goat cheese, the mushrooms were great so were the oysters. I had the Big Tales Little Tales lobster and shrimp, I whish I could cook like that at home. My Wife had the prime rib and although she hates horseraddish, she enjoied the cream sauce with horseraddish. Yes the tables were a little close together, but so are the people on the riverwalk, that is just the way it is. The Prickley Pear Margarita was absolutely unbeatable. Although pricey the service was exelent and we were treated with class. I would definantly return in the future.

We visited Boudro's for the first time this week. This is far and away our new favorite restaurant on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, our favorite in San Antonio, and probably our favorite in Texas. I'm not sure there is anything on the menu that isn't exceptional. You will love the guacamole to start. After that, we asked our waiter, Victor, for suggestions. He was able to describe, in mouth-watering detail, many of the entrees. Bob selected the blackened prime rib and I chose the fresh fish of the day. Add to that a great chardonnay from the extensive wine menu and we had a perfect evening. I'd suggest, if you can only go to one restaurant during your visit to San Antonio, pick Boudro's and ask for Victor. If you can pick two, go to Boudro's for the food, wine and service and go to Mi Terra at the Mercado for a delightful Tex-Mex experience. If you can go to three restaurants, go to Boudro's twice!

Consistent excellence in the food quality and presentation at a reasonable price, The best southwestern type food in town. A great location in the middle of the riverwalk promenade.

I come here every chance I get. I'm a grad student with little money, but I save up to come here. I always get the quail appetizer. The quail is obviously great, but the grits that they serve with it are fabulous. I've had almost everything on their dinner menu, and everything is always perfect. If it's a steak, they cook it just the way you like it, and it's always tender. The duck is amazing. Really you can't go wrong. The only thing I haven't had is the tacos, though they look yummy, they're not really my type of food. But this place is great, you can even bring your vegetarian buddies since they have a veggie platter. The only slight con is the number of people. I've always needed to make reservations and the restaurant is always packed tight. I guess it's because the food is so good. I've always had excellent service, with attentive and helpful servers. Really great place

i live in florida, but have family here in san antonio. the first thing i want when i get here is the best guac in the u.s.! i recomend it to everyone!!!

We went with a party of 12 and 3 of us ordered the prime rib all 3 of us agreed that it was quite possibly the best we had ever had. Couple this with the location right on the riverwalk and Boudros is not to be missed while in San Antonio.

My husband and I managed to get away for 5 days from Alberta,Canada. (Nov 5 - 9, 2006) We did the river dinner tour from Boudro's. We had a wonderful evening . . . wonderful food, wonderful company, wonderful service, wonderful weather and a wonderful tour guide. We even had a gentleman propose to his girlfriend along the tour. It was very touching as my husband and I were extending our celebration of our 24th anniversary in September. Definitely a highlight of our time in San Antonio.
