Boudro's on the River Walk

Description

Boudro's is nestled on the banks of the San Antonio Riverwalk in the historic Schultze/Rilling Building. This turn-of-the-century structure was constructed of limestone and features traditional hardwood floors and a handmade mesquite bar. Intimate outdoor tables line the Riverwalk. Boudro's can cater to the needs of groups, either in our restaurant or on river barges. Boudro's offers contemporary Southwestern specialties such as smoked shrimp enchiladas, blackened prime rib and fresh Gulf Coast seafood entrees. Or choose from a more traditional lineup of pecan-grilled steaks, ribs and chops. After dinner, sample one of our homemade desserts. They're positively sinful. For a dining experience that captures the true flavor of San Antonio, try Boudro's for lunch or dinner. Boudro's is on the west bank of the riverwalk between the Hilton and Hyatt Hotels.

Went for the first time this weekend. The food was good, I felt it was a little overpriced but still good. The service was average but I will give them a break because they were busy.

Boudro's is a four star restaurant right on the walk. Known for prime rib and a bustling atmosphere. Definitely a favorite with the locals and tourists. Expect $50 plus per meal but it's worth it.

Wife and I had lunch here today and were very impressed with food quality and preparations. Busy lunch hour for Boudro's, especially the outside table next to waterway. We chose indoor seating, which was much more open and quiet. Upscale atmosphere inside. Much more than outside. For appetizers, we had dessert of vanilla ice cream with a peanut brittle candy coating. It was very good. Portion was a bit small for sharing, but adequate size anyhow, and very tasty. We also had a seared scallop dish which was great. Waitress was preparing fresh avocado salsa for table next to ours and it looked wonderful, so we asked for that. She gladly prepared same at our table and that was a good call. Wife had a burger and I had a prime rib sandwich. Both were very good and nice size portions. Service was excellent/perfect. I surely would return, next visit to the San Antonio area. Thanks folks. Very nicely done.

I went Sunday 2/13/2011, Everything about lunch on the riverwalk was good as expected with other eateries along the riverwalk, however the main entre at Boudro's could of use some flavor for the price. It lacked taste, poor preperation and service could have been better (waitress was not helpful with house specialties or holiday promotions i.e. Valentines menu) for a so called 4 star place to eat...In my opinion I would expect good tasting food for your dollar. I know good food I have traveled the world, tasted the real four and five star restaurants and with all do respect the chefs at Boudro's may have to go to advanced cooking school to get it right. I thought I was eating at Lubys Cafeteria, God luv ya Boudros but I would have to rate you a "poor" and way over rated.

We have eaten here many times and have always found the food, wait staff, chef and hostess's to be exceptional. We've eaten in the restaurant as well as outdoors and as we are transplanted San Antonians (been here since '81) we have always visited before/between peak dining hours. We've eaten everything from the Blackened Catfish to their perfectly cut and cooked steaks, have enjoyed each of our appetizers and a variety of top shelf drinks made to order. We've even had a late lunch after I had undergone an out patient surgery and enjoyed every bit of our plates. We each typically make sure to order something different and 'share' a bit of each others plate. So, if you are a visitor to our fair city and want to make sure your meal is as excellent as I know you would like, give them a quick call when you get up in the AM and make a reservation for your lunch or dinner. Bon Apetite!

Our first trip here a couple of months ago was good, but our most recent trip was awful. Upon arrival we were told that the wait was 1 hour, not unusual for this place. They offered to walk us over to their sister restaurant (about a block away) where there was a full bar since Boudros has no bar seating. After a bout a hour a half, we asked the wait staff to check on our table and magically, it was ready. We assume that we slippled though the cracks somewhere. Back at Boudros we requested a seat off of the main aisle and were faced with another 30 minute wait before a table was finally ready. We ordered the blackened prime rib, one of Boudro's specialties. The meat was cooked correctly but was of very poor quality. For $28, I expected at least a decent piece of meat. Since we were starving at this point we ate what we could and chalked it up to experience. The final insult came on our way out when the manager asked us how our dinner was. When we told him about our meal he admitted to us that they had been having trouble with their supplier and were not happy with the quality of the meat either. You would think that under these circumstances management would offer to comp the meal or provide an incentive for a return visit, but no such luck in this case. To be fair, the staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our ordeal, I just expected better of this place.

If you are going to eat anywhere on the river walk eat here! Worth every penny.... Texas Sirloin was amazing and the chocolate brownie dessert was one of the best I have ever eaten...

Yes, you have to order the guacamole hand prepared at your table. Very busy place and you may have to wait but worth it. Keep checking and you will probably get seated earlier. We sat outside to take in the scene. Sarapes are provided just in case you get cold but we're not talking MN cold! We had tuna and chicken. Both were good but tuna not as hot as we would have liked. It could be due to the craziness here. Go and enjoy. I will be back!
