Chart House Restaurant - Tower of the Americas
By M, 2/17/13
Horrible, horrible experience. We went for a delayed Valentine s and anniversary dinner. We had a reservation for 6:45, due to slow elevator we arrived at 6:50 and were told that we had to wait 15 minutes or so and I was told they would call my cell phone to tell me when table was ready. After waiting 23 minutes I discovered that my cell does not get reception in their restaurant-and I was not the only one with this issue. Apparently they calnnot afford the same pagers that Olive Garden, etc... use. Finally, we were sat 45 minutes late, waiter showed up, took drink order, got drinks. We were told 3 times that the bread would be right out and that showed up 20 minutes later. Meals delivered by server and they were good-but not worth the price for the Flounder. We did not see our waiter until he cleared our plates and even then he did not ask how our meal was!! Gave me the bill and it took another 10 minutes to get my receipt and credit card back. Rest assured, I will NEVER go there again. I will save half the money and eat at Wild Fish instead. This was a total dissapointment.

My wiife and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Tower of Americas Restaurant on July 13, 2010. Before making a reservation we checked the price menu on their website. The range was from around $15 to $25, however it was not mentiond that that was the lunch menu. For those of you who are budget minded, be prepared to pay a dinner price in excess of $27.99 for a steak dinner or main entree and upward. Then another $8.99 for a salad, $12.00 for a desert, and other sides at $6.99 a pop. All together, a dinner for two cost us $112.00 -- not complaining -- it was excellent food and excellent service and fantastic view! But to be fair with consumers, more reviews should paint a more accuate cost than those I've read. Oh, be sure to check your bill -- we got charged five dollars more than the steak price I ordered. Pricey, YES! -- Worth it? YES! Considering it may be a once in a life time opportunity if visiting San Antonio, it was worth the smile on my wife's face.

I love this place,,Very upscale and elegant since the renovation. And they hired new chef Dwayne Gale from Houston Texas..Very pricy but thats to be expected. Do NOT pass up the Lobster Bisque. And the Grand Manier Cake is so RICH. I dont mind paying money for a upscale vibe and service..Of course the view is wonderful. They even have a theater there with a 3d Imax type of ride...I go here atleast every 3 months...They bar is nice too...Its good for celebrations and romantic nights out..I take the kids before suneset so the can see all the building and airplans that fly by...its wondeful

After reading some of the other reviews I was somewhat leery of eating here. But my son had just finished basic training and I wanted to treat him and his girl friend to something special. We went there for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was spotless. There were no signs of bugs--living or dead. The service was great. The food was excellent. And the view was spectacular. Salads were not included, but the steaks came with mashed potatoes and the fish came with rice. The food is a little pricey; plan on $40 a person. However, I've paid that much for equally good food in restaurants that don't revolve and aren't 700 feet in the air. To me, this is something you should experience at least once in your life.

My fiance and I went there because he wanted to propose. We ordered the food and then I saw ants all over the place. As well as a dead moth. Didn't want to stay there and get 3 star service at a 5 star restaurant. They sent us up and when we got there they didn't have a table for us and kept stalling to find out what happened instead of just telling us that they didn't have a table even though they called us up. They walked us around the restaurant for like a good 10 mins. Prices are just toooooo high for a peice of meat and a salad. I would NEVER recommend this place.

Well I didn't go for the food alone , I went for the view and it is a great view! They dont tell you on the web that the menu is al acart'e (i think thats right) anyway, you order your $8 salad with your $8 baked potato and your $34 steak. Everything was good but how hard is it to wedge a head of lettuce? steak was cooked perfect! but not the best ive had fo $34... Wife ordered shrimp pasta dish for $28. and a shrimp cocktail 5 shrimp for $16 ouch! with the room rotating around I think the waiter had a hard time keeping up with us. Oh well it was an ok night.. 2 adults 1 child $150.... Seeing my lit'l girl run around the obsrevation deck was worth it.. Neat place to go..
