Pico De Gallo Restaurant

Description

San Antonio is famous for the Alamo, the Riverwalk, the Spurs and MEXICAN FOOD, because we have the best Mexican food in the world outside of Mexico without a doubt. Pico De Gallo's motto is "Where San Antonio Eats Mexican", because 80% of our clientele is local. The local folks know what good Mexican food is supposed to taste like. Our recipes are prepared with the freshest vegetables and spices daily. All of our Salsas, Guacamole and Tostadas are made daily as well as our Orange Juice and Lemonade squeezed from fresh Oranges and Lemons (no powder mix here).

My wife and I visited this restaurant yesterday for the first time. We felt since it was part of the Mi Tierra family of restaurants the food would be excellent. Boy, were we wrong. The food was simply horrible; everything we ate was dry, the beans, the rice, enchiladas, chile relleno, tamale all dry like someone had nuked them before they came out. The taste was not much better. The best thing we ate was the chile con queso and cold chips. The service was good but with so many outstanding Tex-Mex restaurants in San Antonio, we will never go back.

Wow-I cant believe how bad our food was. Possibly the worst meal weve had in the past 20 years. One positive note; the waitress was nice.

We had not visited Pico De Gallo in a very long time so my husband & I decided to have breakfast this a.m. Equally disappointed in the food & the service. The chilaquiles were "gross" they now use the "chips" from a bag instead of real fried tortilla chips. I ordered no ranchero sauce but got it anyway, soaking the food entirely The tortillas were horrible. They were raw on the outer part & burned in the middle. It's so sad that this restaurant which has been in S.A. so long is now such a let down. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived however, we did not get attended to for about 10 min. What a waste of money. Never going back.

Indifferent Managment, Stingy drinks, Lazy Mariachis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/10
Its sad to see one of my favorite restaurants drop so dramatically. In the 15 years I've been their customer, English has always been a challenge, but that's what gave Pico de Gallo its charm. It wasn't a riverwalk tourist trap. It was an authentic mex-mex (not tex-mex) place. This week I attempted to arrange a party of 20+ guests, and at the last minute was informed that a 'deposit' of $3 per guest would be required. OK, no big deal. But they weren't asking for a deposit to hold the reservation, they were asking for a surcharge of $3 per guest just for the privilege of showing up. This seemed very odd, so I asked for the general manager, Ramon, to call me. My call was not returned. I called the next day, and my call was not returned. Ditto the third day. Lacking all confidence, I did not hold the party, but did stop by the restaurant. Unlike in years gone by, the dining room was empty. I had a meal. It was OK, but far from the quality I've enjoyed in the past. I ordered a drink, and can safely say that it was one of the shortest, stingiest drinks I've ever had. When I ordered another shot, and asked that it be poured more fully, it was equally stingy. I switched to beer. I guess I was in denial, and went for dinner when I shouldn't have, and ordered a second drink when the first was short. As in the past, the mariachis were present, but now just standing around and playing nothing. It's sad to see this institution die of neglect and indifference. Edit - Delete

Been here to this restaurant but not by choice. One was for an employer's christmas party and another was because it was close by the University. Food was ok, i had the typical enchilada dinner but it seemed too overpriced. I could have had the same exact dinner for at least half the price and might have tasted better elsewhere. Not the worse i tasted but not one of the best. I probably wouldn't come here again.

Great Service! Friendly staff and good food for the price. Great margarita prices for the wide selection they offer. Highly recommend their lunch specials

SIMPLE BUT FANTASTIC FOOD SERVED BY AN ENTUSIASTIC AND PLEASANT STAFF. their Margaritas are a must-try. go there after the more expensive places have turned you off to dining in San Antonio, and you will be revived.

I like the location. They offer service for large groups without a long wait. You can always find parking for this restaurant.
