Morton's the Steakhouse - San Antonio
Morton's The Steakhouse, the nation's premier steakhouse group, specializes in classic, hearty fare, serving generous portions of USDA prime aged beef, as well as fresh fish, lobster and chicken entrees. The menu features a variety of favorite cuts, including a 24 ounce porterhouse, which is the house specialty; a 16 ounce New York Strip and a 12 ounce double cut filet.
It was okay...maybe a little overrated. It took a long time for our food to come out....Almost an hour. That's not including the time it took our salads and dessert to be served. I was here for well over 2 1/2 hours. It had to be the longest dinner that I've ever had. It wasn't even busy since I went in on a weeknight. I prefer Ruth Chris Steakhouse. I would like to add that our waiter and the service was excellent.
My wife and I visited the Morton's in Louisville and were quite happy about the quality of the food and the service, so when we were in San Antonio on business we decided to visit Morton's again, for one of the juicy steaks. The service was just as good as we recalled, and the salads were great, but the steak was just not up to the standard. We were disappointed with my New York strip, and my wife was so unhappy with her filet mignon she left half on her plate!! Cannot recommend; at $50 for a steak and $200 for a meal with wine, I would suggest that you save your money.
BURNT STEAK!!! I ordered a porterhouse here and they brought me a burnt rubber tire on a dirty plate. The creamed spinach was runny disgusting goo, the Caesar salad a limp mess, the wine selection a joke (no good Cabs), the bread was hard as a rock, and to top it off the waiter was halfway drunk. She kept taking shots at the bar with a friend who was having a birthday. Where do they find these clowns?
For a better steak, go to the Barn Door or Little Red Steak house. Heck, Hometown Buffet probably makes a better steak. The beef they use here is pathetic. Not Kobe or Black Angus. The service was slow, the waiter girl got our order wrong, and then they forgot to bring the dessert menu. Can you believe that? I saw a local City Councilman there who looked pissed off as well. Their party had waited over an hour to get drinks!!!! I would not feed this crap to my dog.
Dear future and past diners of Morton's,
The food, the service and ambience of Morton's rival any comparable restaurant on an international level. From the maitre'd to the service staff each treats the clientele with respect while clearly conveying professionalism. My wife and I travel the world several times a year, and still enjoy returning to the timelessness that is Morton's San Antonio, Tx.

Actually, we were expecting Morton's to be a bit stuffy, but we were delighted with the fun, energetic atmosphere. Not quiet dining, but lively comfortable setting. We've eaten there 2 times in the past 2 months and both times we had fun, informative waiters, and fabulous food. The Maitre d' stopped by our table to see how we were doing and couldn't have been nicer. Absolutely THE BEST steaks in town, plus their vegetable options are amazing...and Grand Marniere Souffle to die for. For those expecting a stuffy atmosphere, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at what a comfortable, relaxing setting Morton's offers. We'll be back for more very soon!!!
If you want to experience exquisite dining, this place is a must in San Antonio. I had the opportunity to eat at Morton's last year and it was great. The service is top notch and you can't find better meat cuts anywhere. I recall having a bake potatoe that looked like the size of mini football. Here's the kicker...... Get ready to charge some mad money to the credit card! If you can't stomach a $100+ bill, don't go. If you can, splurge and enjoy the abmience.
