Lone Star Cafe, San Antonio

Steaks were over cooked, dry, old and telling waitress as such she retorted on how bad her day had been? Not a replacement. I never use A-1 on my steak, tonight broke that. My wifes vegtables were sad. something you would expect from veggies that had been on another plate that someone else elected to pass on, squishy and deteriorating to mush, was disgusting. My frys were all hard and burnt. Aside from all the bad food, and if you get lucky enough to catch this place doing its job; YOU STILL CANT SEE THE RIVER ON THE BALCONY UNLESS YOUR STANDING. The safety rail has two liners of mess obscuring any view you would enjoy of the riverwalk. Might as well just be outside a street away. Please do yourself the best thing you can do when in San Antonio, avoid this place!!!!!

The hostess greeted us as we exited from the cab and seated us on the patio at a table of our choosing over-looking the River Walk. Randy, our waiter was promptly there and explained the difference in the Margarita's on the Menu, then suggested one which my wife was pleasantly pleased with. I had baked potato soup, instead of salad, it was excellent. Had chopped sirlon (well done) with mushrooms & my wife had Surf & Turf (rare) it was prepared properly and delicious. They could have been a little more generous with the shrimp. Randy contstantly checked to see if everything was to our liking and we being friendly people we engaged him in conversation learning about his school plans. It made the meal more of a family get together. In our conversation he learned we were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary and surprised us with a brownie and ice cream dessert covered in syrup, whip cream and nuts. I want to thank Randy and the staff for making our Anniversary memoriable.

OMG!!!! I would have to agree w/ everyone else on this establishment! The food was horrible!!!!!!!!!!!! We ate there last night 8/21/2010. My fried fish tasted like dirty lake water and my baked potato was soaked in butter!!! They gave my mother mashed potatoes instead of a baked potato. My mother's steak was also the size of the child's steak! Everyone's food was cold!!!!! We had two individuals taking our orders and they still could not get everything right! I think they are way over priced!!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE experience and will not return!!!!

Based on my experience, the reviews immediately below seem a bit harsh. This isn't the best place I've ever dined in, but it's far from the worst. It was my second choice since the steakhouse at which I wanted to dine had a very long waiting line. The ribs I ordered were tasty and just right spicy, tho slathered with a bit too much sauce. I chose sides of slaw and beans. The slaw was bland and I've had better in a lot of places. The beans were good, mixed with chunks of pork. The meal included a fresh soft dinner roll plus chips & salsa that were OK/average. The outdoor deck over the wonderful Riverwalk was enjoyable. The waitress was a cute and friendly little biscuit, so I left a generous tip, lol.

Ok I read the rest of the reviews and i'm convinced that all the positive one's had to come from employees.This has got to be the worst crap hole in the world better yet the universe.We got there about 7:30 and got drink's approx 40 min later.We were then ignored for another 40 needles to say by then we were pissed.We got up to walk out offered to pay for our drink's and were asked what's wrong .The mngr came and promised to make everything right so we stayed.after another 35 mins we got the worst meal I hve ever had no lie.I had a 10 ounce ribeye and double mashed potatoes wich are 2 of favorite's.The ribeye was dry no,seasoning tough and extra fatty and the potatoes were instant need I say more.We called the manager who promised to make good and all of a sudden she had amnesia.Finally she took about 10 dollars off each check woopdi doo it should have been free. I wouldn't reccomend this place to my worst enemy it sucks.NEVER EVER EVER EAT AT LONESTAR CAFE.

Stay away from this place. I ordered beef brisket and got beef fat. I know what brisket is suppose to be and it was not here. waste of money and service was lousy. I will not go back

The food was excellent along with the nice atmosphere and friendly and fast service! Nice outdoor balcony with a pretty view of the river walk. They have great deserts, especially the hot brownie with ice cream!

Looks like this place has issues, Not very Organized. Came in for lunch, the all you can eat catfish was very greasy and poor quality, muddy? Manager with hair pulled back, looked angry. Staff looked very sloppy and not very attentive to my needs
