Azuca Cocina Latina
Selected Azuca Nuevo Latino on the recommendation of a friend for our office Holiday luncheon. The atmosphere was great--decorated with unusual and beautiful blown glass creations from a neighboring business. The staff was very courteous and helpful and the waitors kept everyone's glass full throughout the meal. The menu featured a wide variety of interesting item, from safe items to the exotic, and was a nice change from the usual Tex-Mex fare served throughout San Antonio, Texas. Our crowd can be very hard to please; however, everyone was very happy with the entrees they selected and the service. Four of us had the luncheon special, the mixed grill (steak, chicken breast and jalepeno sausage), and it was cooked to perfection. I thought the mashed potatoes were the perfect compliment to the meats. Prices were very reasonable and it was nice to find a restaurant that was amenable to separate checks for a party of our size. It saved the party planner, me, the headache of having to take orders and collect payments in advance! A couple of people in our party had visited the location for happy hour and on the weekend and said it was a great time. I'll definitely go back and keep them in mind for future special luncheons. I will NEVER visit this place again. I went there for a birthday celebration with a gift certificate and they refused to honor it. The food was mediocre and the waitstaff was slow. The manager was extremely rude when I presented the gift certificate. Save your money and go to an honest restaurant.
Azuca catered my wedding. Vanessa P was the one who I signed a contract with but before my wedding date she was no longer an employee, needles to say I did not get what I tasted during our tasting. The food was good, but the batender at my reception sold out of sodas because the hibiscus tea was not presweetened as tasted during the original signing of the catering contract.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL RESTARUANT, WITH GREAT LATIN FOOD. WITH FRIENDLY PERSONAL AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE.THE STAFF ALLWAYS REMEMBER ME AND TREAT ME LIKE FAMILY. THEY MAKE SURE THAT IM HAVING A GOOD TIME. I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS PLACE.
This resturant is pretty expensive in comparison to the food that is served there. I think the chef totally misses the point ..the presentation of the dishes are nice however the taste no where near the looks. If I am paying $22 for a plate of food please don't use box mash potatoes...I can definitely taste the tap water used it was disgusting. Also, not sure if the chef really enjoy's balsamic ALOT but he should consider holding it back a bit..way too much. I can go on and on about what was wrong with each dish..but i am reaching my charachter limit. All I can say is Eaters be ware...you are not getting your monies worth.
Being from Puerto Rico, it was a unique way to experience all the caribbean and latin gastronomy. The flavor, presentation and quality of the food was incredible. Not to mention the amazing scenery add great Celia Cruz portraits. Definitely deserves 5 stars.
If you rate a restaurant based on it's appearance, and how loud it is, Azuca ranks above average. The food presentation is unique and fun to watch; but that's it...not enough effort has been placed on it's flavor which is unfortunate. There's poor ventilation in this stablishment and it's too loud to carry a conversation.
