I'm not a tourist or recent resident of San Antonio. I have lived here all my life (which is well over 50 years). El Mirador is, at best, a mediocre place to eat. The service was lousy and the server seemed to really hate her job. It is incredible that this place has been open for such a long time. Perhaps there was a time that things were different. In any case, there are a number of better places to eat downtown. Do yourself a favor and pass this one up. No reason to spend your money on average fare and bad service.

This restaurant has everything you could possibly ask for. Great food, friendly service, and excellent margaritas. I come here as much as I can. I recommend this to everyone wanting a great restaurant experience.

Well, I'm SHOCKED at the good reviews... SHOCKED. We read them and decided to give them a try, even with the negitive feedback we stayed open mined... we should have listened to the BAD. The staff wasen't as friendly as most places. Note * They weren't busy at all: We were seated... looked over the menu (the prices on the menu VARY a dollar or two MORE than the online dinner menu, which I didn't complain about) we figured out what we wanted and were promptly brought chips and salsa (which I wasent a fan of... chips were stell and salsa had a bbq flavor) we ate all of than and somone still did not come to take our order. FINALLY we ordered drinks the same time as our food... Food came pretty fast! *good thing* Portion looked like a LUNCH portion... I ordered Fajitas (they did not come on the traditional skillet) in stead a semi-warm plate with a pile of rice and beans. Anyways... at this point we had our food.. no drinks! Told server we still needed our drinks and more salsa... then we got them. Food was decent. Only good thing is we didnt have to wait long to get it so that we could get the hell out of there... sooner the better. ANYWAYS, DONT SAY YOU WEREN'T WARNER!!! DINE AT YOUR OWN RISK! If you get good service I'd say you LUCKED OUT!

This Restaurant Sucks. First, if it's crowded forget about good service. This people messed up our orders, and there were only 4 of us in the table. They messed up completely on the orders (i.e. they brought us the wrong plates; example, we asked for Chicken Enchiladas, they brought chicken fajitas). The plates for each of us came out at different times.... some of us were finished with our plate when the rest of us were getting our plates. Some of our additional side orders never came out. Then, the bill was all wrong, and they gave us the wrong credit card back (it belonged to someone else). The chicken enchiladas a very good, everything else tastes like microwavable food you can buy at HEB, that includes the chicken enchiladas, the chicken, quesadillas, etc. The flautas were full of bones and cartilage. I'm surprised that this restaurant is so popular.

El Mirador has great food, great service and pleasant surroundings. At dinner they feature more upscale mexican and seafood dishes. Lunch has more of the traditional mexican food. Would highly recommend this place to residents and tourists alike!

This is my favorite Southtown (just south of downtown) restaurant. Consistent. Great food. Good menu. Friendly staff. Love it! I eat there at least twice a month.

Eat there regularly

Breakfast, lunch or dinner: it doesn't matter. I eat there 5-9 times a week; if I lived here I'd eat there even more often. It is worth the 15-mile drive from my home...check the specials!!!

Great Mexican food

Haven't been there in a while, but we have been there many times and they never let me down. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is very relaxing, and the service is usually top notch, I definately recommend it for any Mexican food lovers out there.

I Miss El Mirador
By ,
I rember growing up near El Mirador, me and my family were within walking distance. The staff there is AMAZING, every time you go they treat you like family. They have delicious meals, you have to try everything first before you can have a favorite (if you decide to go back multiple times). The restaraunt has great atmosphere. If you're ever in the vicinity of Alamo St., you have to eat there.
