how to build a check total
i visited this resto with two colleagues last night (1/21/2006). the food was mediocre (pasta was overcooked, vegetables rubbery, bread stale), the wine very good, and the waiter charming.
behind that charm, though, was an avaricious soul. the waiter substituted a $38 bottle of wine for the $24 bottle we wanted, and brought the colleague who ordered pizza one a size larger than the one she ordered.
we didn't discover either fact until the bill arrived, and by then it was too late to do anything about it.
i don't live in san antonio, so i don't know if this is de rigueur for restos along the riverwalk. i DO know that for the rest of my visit i'll stick to chain restaurants.
