Without a doubt the finest restaurant in the Houston area and more than holds it own with any fine dining establishment anywhere. Zagat rated, outstanding highly trained service staff, incredible steaks and seafood, generous portions of both food and drink. Paco is a man of boundless energy and greets every patron very warmly. I have read some reviews saying the prices are high - but for a restaurant of this international caliber the prices are very reasonable. A real gem! It surprised me a small town like Galveston had a restaurant of this high grade.
I am a first time visitor to Galveston, and went to Rudy & Paco after a recommendation from the bartender at the Hotel Galvez. Thank-you!
Had a wonderful evening. Started with the Crab Bisque ($8.00) which was fabulous (but very rich!). My main course was the Salmon Parrilla ($25.00) which was very good, and together with the Veal Chop I was told by the locals, was one of the two best dishes in the restaurant.
I enjoyed a bottle of Argentine Malbec ($45.00) from the reasonable wine llist and had an all together great meal.
The restaurant is not inexpensive, but is very fairly priced. The decor is very comfortable, classy, but casual, and a brass plaque marking the high water mark during Hurricane Ike (about seven feet, just a few feet short of the roof) provides a sobering reality check for life on the Gulf.
I wouldencourage any visitor to the island to give R&P a try.
What a fantastic restaurant! We have lived in the Galveston area most of our life, but my husband and I have just discovered Rudy and Paco's. The other reviews are right on. The salmon was the best I have ever eaten. The Beefsteak tomatoe salad, the crab cake appetiser, and the bread pudding desert were all perfect. The service was as well. Our server was friendly, polite, and at the same time completely professional. This restaurant has everything together! We dine out frequently. We have been to many establishments from Key West to Texas as well as Jamaica and the Mexican Riviera fine restaurants and local dives alike and this place tops them all in service, quality and quantity of food, and atmosphere! Cannot wait to go back!
excellent brand new interior, finest seafood in town, paco, the owner is most helpful, make a reservation for dinner, lengthy wine list, the finest highly trained, friendly staff on the island.
I have been eating here for over 7 years, Paco treats you better than family, order the crabcakes, they are truly the best! I have never had a bad meal here!
Ate my first meal there last week and they did not disappoint! I love South American cuisine so this place was right up my alley. Rudy himself greeted us. Unlike Mexican restaurants, this place gives you bottomless fried plantains and the most awsome sauce ever. My grilled salmon with mango clili sauce was the perfect combination of sweet and heat. Its within walking distance of one of my company's offices so I will certainly be back!
Definitely one of the best in town and one that deserves a good review. First of all it has a nice inside decoration and it looks like a restaurant not like a junk food joint. Waiters are elegantly dressed up in black attire and they are, at least ours, extremely polite and efficient, The wine list is not great and nor is the menu but what we had my wife and I was good. My escargots (snails) were just ok (actually they were tasteless) but my ceviche was quite good and my wife's impanadas (meat and veggies) were spicy and delicious. Then we had 4 lobsters's tails for some 90 dollars which were absolutely fantastic, the best I ever ate. The Spanish champagne (Frexeinet) is good but was not chilled enough which is really a pitty for such a beverage, the waiter did his best to bring us a bigger ice bucket and in the end it was ok. I had a delicious sorbet dessert and the bill was some 200 dollars with tip. A great evening and a good food with excellent service. I like this resto. Funnily enough we met his owners a year ago at Yamato restaurant which is one of the worst Japanese restaurants I met in the world. I will soon write a review about it.
Rudy & Paco's is a place I've been wanting to try for a while. My mom and I had lunch there this week and it was awesome. Paco greeted us at the door and actually remember meeting my mom and I once before.(Business) He sent over Merlot for mom and gave us a great table. My plantain crusted chicken was to die for. The service was some of the best I've experienced in a long time. I give Rudy & Paco's 3 thumbs up.(If I had an extra I would.)
