In 1998, here lay a vacant lot and there lay three vacant houses and herein lay a great idea. The land was prime, yet undeveloped, and the houses were set to be demolished. Our founders set out to save the housesac"picking them up, bringing them here and building a restaurant incorporating them. After many months of hard work, their dreams became a reality and The Spot was born. In 2002, The Spot was purchased by local resident and BOI (Born on Island) Dennis Byrd. He began here when we originally opened, working his way up from cashier to cook, dishwasher to delivery boy. He learned the ropes of the restaurant business, and accomplished his dream of owning his own restaurant by purchasing the only restaurant he ever worked in. Youac2ll still see him here today taking your order, cleaning your table, tending bar or just hanging out on the patio.
Walked around for ten minutes looking for a place to sit because its a free for all. There were tabLes occuppied by people that were not even here to eat. I ordered the Frito burger. It was bland and had like five soggy chips total. Bad place .
This is the second time this month I have been to The Spot and the food quality was awful. The first time we ordered fried shrimp it was cold, limp, and soggy. This time i went on friday pm and ordered a burger, after 25 minute wait, i went to the food counter,to find my food had been setting under a geat lamp for who knows how long, and nobody, paged my beeper. The KM immediately jumped in and threw all my food away(it was stone cold) saying he would re-cook it fresh, in a couple a minutes food was ready. This new food was also cold ,stale bun, soggy cold o-rings.THIS IS NO LONGER THE SPOT! THEY HAVE MAJOR KITCHEN PROBLEMAS AND JUST DONT CARE!
The food is awesome, the music at the restaurant is 50-70s and the next door bar is 80-today rock. The club is totally awesome as well.
The food is superb with great prices.
Drinks are excellent with great prices also.
The atmosphere is truly superb and even the live webcam on the deck, makes if fun to show off to the world!
I love this place! It's for everyone!
It is my favorite place in Galveston!
Great burgers. Wonderful atmosphere both inside and outside. The Spot has something for everyone including fish, fried pickles, onion rings, shrimp, chili, fries, cheesecake, ice cream, cakes, and alcoholic beverages. Some nights offer half price apps and happy hour does not end until 7pm.
Wow! Finally got back after the hurricane and all and I'm so glad we made the trip. Food's still great. My brother, his wife, and her sister were all very pleased with the visit and agreed it was worth the trip from Angleton, for us ... and from Illinois for my brother's sister-in-law.
I had my favorite coconut butterflied fried shrimp with waffle fries and slaw which was all prepared to perfection.
My sister -in -law and her sister tried the prime rib sandwich with fixings from the fixings bar. They both raved about the sandwich and the freshly prepared fixings.
My brother had the catfish, loved it, and peel & eat shrimp. They also shared an order of shrimp kisses which disappeared before I got a chance to try one.
We stopped at the bakery on the way out and bought six different desserts for Thanksgiving day. Everybody got to try a bit of each, except the fabulous chocolate extravaganza. I ate the whole thing, YUM! I'll teach em not to share their shrimp kisses.
KUDOS to the gal who works at Wings Beachwear store for recommending this place while we were on last night of our vacation. Awesome burgers, just awesome, so glad we came here. Many tvs, I was able to keep up with Little League World Series. Only regret was, we didnt try their ice cream shop. Also, next time we go, we definitely will try their fried pickles appetizers, seems like that's what everybody orders, must be good?
Probably the best hamburger I have ever had. I had the green burger (Guacamole, Pepper Jack, etc...). The Spot is one of the best (and laid back) restaurants in Galveston. Eat on the 2nd floor and watch the waves as you eat yours. I can't wait to go back.
