...It was recommended that we take a dip in the hot tub or sit in the steam room before putting on our pajamas. This would raise our body temperature and the special lining of our sleeping bags would trap this heat inside. This sounded like a good idea but the only problem is that the hot tubs are located outdoors. Oh well, why worry about the cold? After all, we were there to spend a night in a hotel made of ice for goodness sake. Traci and I used the locker rooms in the Celsius Pavilion to change into our swimsuits. The front desk of the pavilion provided bathrobes, towels, and sandals ($3)....

First night was in Saranac Lake, stayed at the Saranac Hotel. We got into town at about 4pm after a nice drive through the Adirondak State Park. Kate got the opportunity to chat with the local law enforcement who ended up being real nice. :-) The room itself was a little cramped but comfortable, much like an attic bedroom at your grandma's. A quilt adorned the queen bed, and it had one of those air conditioners that like like dehumidifiers and sat in the room with a tube leading to the window.
