I was once a big fan of Ninfa’s during lunch, but over the past year this place has gone way downhill. After our last experience on Sunday, we will NEVER go back. The staff is rude and slow. My fajita’s looked, tasted and smelled like roadkill. I was so horrified I nearly vomited; I have seriously had better food in Mexico, Dubai, Kuwait and Baghdad! It took the waiter over 30 minutes after delivering our food to make another appearance. This is when I requested to speak with the manager. The manager offered to charge me 50% because I should have told them right away. After I gave him a piece of my mind regarding their service I thankfully didn’t have to pay for my plate. My fiancé also ordered a steak chimichanga and ended up with a strange looking empanada (with the same creepy meat). After many attempts to explain to the waiter what the difference is between the two he said forget it, ate it and ended up with food poisoning later that night.
My friend came to town to visit for a couple of days and she and I went to Ninfas. We got seated and they took forever to take our order. After they left the food on our table, they never came back to check on us. Then as we were eating, they turned off the lights because it was time for them to close!! If they didn't want to serve us they should have just told us when we got there that they were getting ready to close and we would have gone somewhere else. Instead, we were treated poorly and had an aweful experience. If you want to be treated like a person, do not go there.
Being a Houston native, I grew up eatting a the Ninfa's resturants. When I go back to Houston, the Ninfa's cantina is a must for atleast one meal. Everyone I have taken there loves it and comments on how great the food is there. It may be that my parents frequent the location, but the food and service is never disappointing. And who doesn't love fresh made totillas with their meal, which are made right there at the resturant? I will give one piece of advise, do not goto other Ninfa's rsturants expecting the same great experience. Since Mama Ninfa passed, this is the only ninfa's which has maintained the same high level of food, service and value that she (mama Ninfa) expected from her resturants.
