Since opening in 1965, Tony Vallone has redefined Italian flavors with his eponymous brand. Pioneering restaurant of the regional cuisine in the state, the place has hosted celebrities, dignitaries and royalty, including seven active Presidents. Authentic Italian flavors are concealed within inventive platters that are delicious as well as visually impressive. Indulge in Seafood Gazpacho, Salmon Tartar and Three Graces, to complement the impressive wine cellar. Surrounded by Versace china, Riedel crystal and Christophe flatware, your fine dining experience will be one of pure luxury. Whether it's celebrity-watching, sampling haute cuisine , or crossing off your culinary bucket list, dining at Tony's promises an experience like no other.
Tony's would like to be a great restaurant. Their mistake is that what makes a food place great is the food/service, NOT their attitude. I have been to some great restaurants in both europe and the US and I can assure you that this is not one of them. It is not even good. Just average. The good news is that this is no longer a secret and most foodies in Houston, as well as the in crowd, have stopped going. So dont spend your money there. Fortunately, there are some fairly good places in Houston that are way better: Cafe Annie, le Mistral and Da Marco will provide a better experience any day.
We had the utmost pleasure of dining at the new location of Tony's and must say this was the most outstanding resturant experience I have ever had. The service was superb, the waitstaff was extremely courteous, professional and attentive. The food and wine exceeded all expectations. The atmosphere was profound. My party that accompanied me, as well give the evening rave reviews. Some have dined all over the world but stated that this was by far the most esquiste. On rating Tony's, 5 stars is not sufficient. It is 10+.
We have been to Tonys many times , for the outstanding food and service. We decided the weekend after Thanksgiving, and was met with an overcrouwded, understaffed nightmare. We were in the restaurant waiting for 3 and 1 half hours. Tired and frustrated,I didnt even want my food at 10 o clock. Whoever booked these tables is at fault and the underexpieranced waitstaff who waited on us.Worst service of my life.
Great expectations were meet with great service, food, ambiance and to top it off great friends to enjoy a great dinner. It was started out a little slow but then the service really stepped up their game and were there for us all the way. The manager was kind to send over some stuff rotellia's(not sure on the spelling) while our food was being taken care of and it was those little things that made this a great evening. While a little high on the price point, you get what you pay for and more.
Enjoy and hope this helps!
Heavy hitter among Houston restaurants. They make money on their wine so be sure that you actually see them open the bottle in front of you. Very expensive but you go there to see and be seen. Big shots get the special tables.
The portions were smaller than most fine dining but the food tasted very good. You can not wear jeans not even designer jeans or you will be seated in the bar. The service was excellent and I love the piano bar. The hostess was not too friendly but the rest of the service was excellent!
afta years (since tha millineium 2 b precise) of plannin' 2 go 2 tony's & maxim's (could not 'cause of location changes), i FINALLY made it 2 tony's 4 my 36th b-day.
tha service was impeccable, save 4 1 hostess who appeared snobbish, but nun compared 2 whut we had heard 'bout; tha decor was fabulous; & tha wine selection was spectacular.
beautiful presentations as 2 b xpected; howeva, tastes & selections did not quite liv up 2 xpectations. tha prices were quite reasonable, tho.
peace, luv & blessings... guc. :-).
