Brennan's of Houston
Description
Since our 1967 opening as a sister restaurant to the world-famous Commander's Palace in New Orleans, Brennan's of Houston has evolved into the city's premier destination for memorable dining served with true Southern hospitality.
If you read my post-Ike (removed for reasons below) review, you'll know this place needed work. The house was back together but no one was home. I'm glad to say on our 2nd and 3rd visit, Brennan's is getting back to business.
We went for Fat Tuesday supper and after a stumbling start, the crew more than made up for previous visits. The waitstaff still struggles but is improving. Our first waiter completely dropped the ball, (15 minutes without water or greeting). But Joe, our replacement waiter smoothly recovered and truly made our evening with his professionalism.
Mr. Sherman, the manager, made sure we had an experience and not just a meal. Chef has refined his menu and exceeded our expectations. I strongly encourage the smoked salmon appetizer, which my wife loved and I (not a fan of the fish) really enjoyed.
We look forward to this establishment's continued recovery and many more dining experiences.
This is my favorite in Houston. I love it I feel like Im in French Quarter. It is a Houston must, you will not be disapointed. The Terms of Enderment room is a great place for special dinners!
FROM THE MOMENT WE ARRIVED, FROM THE VALET, HOSTESS, WAITSTAFF, OUR TABLE THE EXCELLENT FOOD, AND SERVICE, I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH !!!
CHEF EVANS, AND ALEX BRENNAN MARTIN BRAVO
I have been to most of the upscale restaurants in Houston and several other cities. I was very impressed with the bartender she was friendly, attentive and informative, also giving me directions to my hotel and explaining what exactly went into my cosmopolitan. Everything was made from fresh ingredients. I proceeded to the dining room where I was also treated as a king. I had three to four people serving my food and my martini was served tableside. I would suggest this restaurant to any one entertaining clients that they want to impress. There are several private dining rooms. I know this because I was given a tour. It's no wonder they've been there for 40 years !
So Dissapointing! We had a terrible waitor. He would not wait to hear your order but very rudely go to the next person at the table. He pulled the menus out of our hands. This was on a Monday night and the restaurant was not crowded nor were we particularly indecisive or slow with our orders. The whole experience was really awful. We will never visit Brennan's again.
Ok. I do not make enough money to go to this place alot , but i try to go at least twice a year. The food is great and the atmosphere is spectacular. You can eat inside the restaurant for a more intimate setting- or you can eat outside. The decor is set up like a place in New Orleans. And the complimentary pralines are a treat as soon as you walk in.
My boyfriend and some friends went to Brennans and it was really nice. It is an upscale restaurant and a wide variety of dishes. If you are not a fan of fine dining and prefer a steak and potatoes then this would not be the place for you. The staff are wonderful and very professional. They also have valet service.
