I would recommend this restaurant to almost all... [not to someone wanting to impress a 'high maintenance' type date]. We went as a family (Wife, and two daughters [11 and 14]) and the setting was suitable for a family. The prices are good for the quantity and quality of food served. The resaurant could use a little touching up and did not 'feel' like a chinese restaurant. There was what looked like dark sauce splash marks on the wall next to the booth, which we sat ourselves at. This gave the appearance of being 'unclean'. If they adjusted the lighting from flourecent to incandecent with some 'classical' chinese type/style lighting/lamps the 'mood' would have been more inviting. We almost turned around when we came in because the 'mood' of the restaurant was not 'inviting'. We all liked the dishes we ordered. And the service was good also. I did not like that from one pot of tea you only get one cup and that you pay $1.35 for each additional cup. In my mind, a pot of tea should be complimentary as the cost of tea is not that exorbant [and they put only one tea bag in the pot for a 2 quart tea pot... tea was watery tasting] ... The Fortune cookie was made in Brooklyn, NY... [reminded me of the Pace Picante Sauce commercials about competing brands of Salsa being made in 'New York City'!]. The hot and sour soup was good flavored, I like it more watery than saucey with a few more veggies. The egg drop soup is the type where they break the yoke vs where the egg is cooked hard and rests in a brothy type watery setting. Both are good, but I think most people prefer the egg cooked completely vs the yellowish yoke style. The resaurant does not quite Google right but Yahoo hits it right on(look at map on this webpage). It is on the North Side of 190 (left side if coming from Lampasas) and has a Yellow sign with red letters. Again, despite the sort of run-down and dirty appearance, and lack of 'Asian atmosphere' the food was very good and the employees very nice with good service... I would think they would wear a more formal attire than the jeans and Polo style our server was wearing... again appearance vs product... Product Excellent... Appearance... not so good. Again appearances were lacking, instead of printing new Menu's they just lined through items they no longer served... and they should advertise if they use MSG or not. Also listing more details on what is exactly in a dish is helpful to people that are not familiar with Asian types of food. Lastly, the 'to go' clientel must be numerous (meaning good food), because in the one hour we were there, at least 15 people came in to get 'to go' orders. Again, keeping the 'to go' clientel seperated from the 'dine in' clientel would have made for a better 'dining-in' experience.
