The interior of this place could easily pass for the restaurant version of a Mexican quilt. It is that bright and colorful. Traditional Mexico-inspired decor adorns the walls adding even more color. The open dining room is casual and the friendly waitstaff is attentive. Traditional Tex-Mex fare, such as fajitas, enchiladas and burritos are excellent. Other specialties on the menu include broiled quail and a few seafood entrees. Save room for dessertthe flan is excellent here.
The food is WONDERFUL. I was never a fan of Mexican food until a friend took me to Uncle Julio's and told me I would love it. Now I can't seem to stay away. The service is great and that is hard to find. I personally reccomend the beef enchiladas.
I like EVERY thing about Uncle Julio's in Fort Worth (Camp Bowie and I-30). All their food is excellent, especially the pork tamales. The chips and salsa are also very good. Service has always been outstanding. I live 20 miles away and it is well worth the drive. I consider it not only my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant but favorite restaurant of any type food in the area. I recommend this restaurant VERY HIGHLY!
We had a family party of 13 people for a visiting relative from California. I called Uncle Julio's to see how early I should come in and get on their seating list as I knew they didn't take reservations. I explained the number in my party which included 3 children. They told me to be there about 30 minutes early. When I arrived, even though I had called, they informed they would not seat parties over 12 together. When I told them I had called, they said they would make an exception this one time. To make a horrible, long story short, after waiting 45 minutes the manager refused to let us sit together. I think if we hadn't kept asking about our seating they would have let us sit there another hour. Anyway, we ended up having to leave after waiting 45 minutes and find somewhere else to eat. The restaurant wasn't busy and there were plenty of tables, they just wouldn't bend their rule about only seating groups of 12 together. I have been a frequent customer as I only live about 5 blocks from the restaurant, but needless to say, neither me or any of my family will ever go to Uncle Julio's again.
We had a party of nine go in and two were diabetics. One asked if veggies could be substitued for the rice and beans.Waiter answer: NO. So she went to the Manager and after SHOWING HER DIABETES BRACELET, the manager said for Medical reasons only and this time only, they would make an exception.
The other diabetic just passed it over. Why must we be embarrassed and have to prove we have a medical condition. Why can't someone want a healthier meal choice... ah yes, if we were concerned about our health, we would not be in Uncle Julio's to begin with... got it, I will remember that next time I eat my Don Pablo's fajita combo with awesome grilled veggies which I substitued right off the menu and without comment from my waiter.
Not A Problem Uncle Julio's we won't be back and will promise to tell all diabetics we are not welcome at your restaurant.
