Joe T Garcia's Mexican Restaurant
Established in 1935, Joe T. Garcia's remains one of Fort Worth's most popular Mexican restaurants, run by the Garcia-LanCarte family. Located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth near hotels and the cultural district, the venue features beautiful fiesta gardens with a patio. Everyone enjoys outdoor seating, complete with ferns, rippling water and huge shade trees. Try the cheese enchiladas or the fajitas (your choice of grilled beef or chicken). Excellent appetizers include Joe's nachos, quesadillas or chalupas. The popular weekend brunch begins with huevos rancheros or migas with potatoes and refried beans.
Do yourseslf a favor and steer clear of this place. The service is horrible and the food is even worse. This place is for tourists and people who think microwave dinners are fine dining. It is really not good.
Had heard great reviews and magazine articles about Joe T's. Have never tasted worse fajitas or enchiladas in my life. It was four of us and three returned their plates...the fourth was so hungry he didn't even taste the food. HOW CAN THEY CALL IT TEX-MEX...I DON'T HAVE A NAME FOR WHAT THEY SERVED US. Save yourself a trip...the worst food by far in my life.
The ambiance is nice, but the food is terrible.
Not sure how anyone could call this the best Tex Mex in Fort Worth. There is so much hype around this restuarant, so I was super excited the first time I went. I was immediately disappointed once I tasted the food. I gave it the benefit of doubt and ate there a second and even third time, the food was just as bad each time.
It's posted on the front door that they don't accept credit cards, and just inside that front door is a sign asking that you judge the place on the food, not the service. I've been a regular there since 1982 and it is the best Mexican food in DFW.
I was enjoying dinner with 8 other family members, in what I've been told is a historic landmark of Fort Worth. Just when everything was going well, my 5 yr old neice pointed, and stated look mommy a cute mouse!
We all looked up at the wall, and noticed we had several additional dinner guests watching overhead, and along the ivy on the patio wall. My wife screamed, and we showed this to the manager. She didn't seem worried, and explained further that 'we have possums too'!!! She explained that we could move inside. So, we moved inside (all 8 of us), and had to carry our own plates/drinks!!
We even talked to the owner, and she didn't seem concerned. They didn't even offer a free drink or a discounted meal!!
I would strongly suggest staying far away from the rodent infested walls of Joe T Garcia's as they don't seem concerned to rid themselves of rodents, and don't understand the basics of customer service.
