Joe T Garcia's Mexican Restaurant
Established in 1935, Joe T. Garcia's remains one of Fort Worth's most popular Mexican restaurants, run by the Garcia-LanCarte family. Located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth near hotels and the cultural district, the venue features beautiful fiesta gardens with a patio. Everyone enjoys outdoor seating, complete with ferns, rippling water and huge shade trees. Try the cheese enchiladas or the fajitas (your choice of grilled beef or chicken). Excellent appetizers include Joe's nachos, quesadillas or chalupas. The popular weekend brunch begins with huevos rancheros or migas with potatoes and refried beans.
OH K so I read all good an bad reviews... my fiance is a truck driver an I got to go we are from San Diego CA. This is both our first time stopping in Fort Worth Tx. We are on our way to Dallas for drop but have a 2 day lay over his boss recommended Joe t Garcias so we went an let me tell u my experience... upon arriving we were a bit confused on how to enter the door is locked to get into the restaurant in there is a huge line on the other side I remember the reviews saying the line was to eat outdoors so we chose to eat inside and the door girl let us in there was a small line inside and we waited about 5 to10 minutes the line girls didn't seem to know what they were doing but another lady manager of some sort took over and did great when we got seated they moved our chairs super far away from each other on the table the bus boys products chips salsa and water we ordered the so called excellent margaritas to drink I got a frozen strawberry an my fiance got his on the rocks they wernt all that excellent the grumpy waitress came to take our order they don't give you menu because they only have 2 things for dinner chicken or beef enchiladas or fajitas we got the fajitas both beef an chicken he got corn tortillas I for flour. The food was good my fiance dosnt like chicken but liked there chicken more then beef. The portions was good. We waited like 20 min for our bill. Over all not thE bad but we will not go back the food and margaritas were not worth the wait an grumpy waitress. I do not hold the restaurant responsible for her she proble just had a bad day but don't take it out on us... it was definitely not worth missing half of NASCAR for!!! We didn't even tip she was so bad...
Very good place to enjoy a Spring weekend dinner. The margarita's were a little potent, but that was okay, just watch how many you drink. Great ambiance and great service. I've read many reviews and I am wondering if they went to the same place. The Fajita's were great. I had the beef fajitas, so I really wouldn't know about the chicken fajitas. Could not eat all the food, portions are generous. The salsa has a nice kick. Menu selection is weak--only enchiladas and fajitas are available for dinner, but what they serve is outstanding.
Everybody has their own taste and this TexMex fancier says Joe T's is one of the best. There is a reason there is a line of people always waiting to get into the place. I wish they took credit cards and wish they had valet parking.
Five stars from me. I know there will be someone to give my review a thumbsdown, but in my honest opinion, Joe T Garcia's is really a great place to enjoy the wonderful Texas Spring weather in an ambiance that is like no other.
Nice atmosphere but no menu. You can choose fajitas or enchiladas. Fajitas were dry and had no flavor. Chips are worse than what you can buy in a grocery store. The most ridiculous thing is they only take cash. What year is this, 1970?
The food was ok, but rediculously overpriced for what you get. They don't take credit cards, don't split checks, hardly ever refill your drinks. In fact, they don't really seem to care if you are there or not. There are tons of other hole-in-the-wall mexican food restaurants in the area with better food and better service. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
IVisit Joe T Garcia's a few weeks ago and had a terrible experience with them. The food was Mexican but the only problem it had that frozen Mexican food flavor. I shouldn’t known better about heading out to this resturant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My first and last time I visit this place peps!!!!!! They serve you tap water....Warning
I've never written a review of a resturant, or anything actually, but after dinner at Joe T Garcia's a few nights ago, I feel compelled to share my impressions of the place with the world. It is terrible. No joke, and terrible is probably going easy on the place. Cash only is the first big surprise. No menu is the second. You can choose between enchiladas or fajitas. The food is delivered instantly, and it appears to have been cooked way in advance. The rice was dry. The beans were odd tasting. The meat for the fajita tasted and smelled even odder. Service was terrible. The place was packed with people who appeared to be locals, so maybe I'm being too harsh. Maybe theylike the ambiance of the patio, which is nice. But I'll never go there again.
