Tandoor Indian Restaurant
Don't let the strip center location fool you - the food here is excellent and the place rates as one of the best Indian food establishments in North Texas by the Dallas Morning News . The food here is cooked inside extremely hot clay ovens, the traditional Tandoori way of cooking in India. The rotating lunch buffet and dinner menu offers a variety of Tandoori chicken, lamb and fish entrees, as well as vegetables and soups. The chef chooses unique spices from India without overpowering the natural flavor of the food.
Amazing food and service! I go there for the buffet and I order take out at least once a week! They know me by name and make my food the same exact way everytime I order. I am definately a loyal regular! Great place to go - first time you try it you will be hooked!!!
We first went to Tandoor several years ago, since then we have went to several different Indian and Pakistani restuarants depending on where we were when it was time to eat. Tandoor is our FAVORITE by far! Unless we are too far away, Tandoor is our place of choice. My daughters and I have very different heat levels in our food and there is something for each of us - besides that, all you have to do is to ask the staff to alter the heat if needed and they're happy to do so. They also have a buffet at lunch, which is a great way to try new items - you'll soon find your favorites!
The Kachumber Salad with cucumber, tomatoes, green peppers with tangy spices and lemon juice was surprisingly good. I had the Lamb Vindaloo, a spicy dish, and it was really good. (Don't eat the peppers unless you like really hot stuff). We also had whole wheat pita bread and some garlic bread that was really good. I used that to make sandwiches with the lamb.
This is a hole in the wall place with Turkish decor, table cloths and linen napkins. The service was not the fastest but it was personal, which is good by me. It was also really quiet but they eventually turned on a little music which added some ambience.
Overall I think this is a great place for a romantic dinner or different getaway with friends.
This is my first time trying at Tandoor. The service is so unfriendly to the students or younger crowd here. Maybe I was walking in with a hoodies. That’s what happened to me during their lunch buffet.
I sat down and started to pick some dishes to enjoy.
The waitress (she’s nicer, at least she’ll give you a smile) and the Waiter (with an Indian cap) never come to my table, collect piles of plates only once, and ask you “can you pay now?”
Once you’ve paid, when you ask to fill up that cup of water, that waiter first ask you “Did you paid?”, and double check your billing binder.
Then, he’ll come and fill you “tons of water” in your cup until it leaks out on your table, walk away and never come back again.
I guess it made me a lesson not to dress hoddies at Tandoor, maybe it’s a Zagat Rated restaurant. If you look 30 or older and coming here for a lunch, then you’ll feel like this is the place to go.
Overall, the food is good, but do expect to be treated differently if you look young with no high paying jobs. If you know it up front and enjoy the food there, then you won’t feel surprise like I did last time.
Nothing is better! I was first introduced to Indian food here while I was pregnant. There was nothing I craved more during my pregnancy, so my friends and I would drive from Alvarado every 2 weeks for Tandoor. The Mali Kofta is melt in your mouth wonderful, and every thing else I have tasted, I like. I definately recomend!!!
The food is delicious, made from ultra-fresh ingredients. It's nicely presented, and looks as good as it smells...and tastes! I went with several friends and we really enjoyed ourselves.
That being said, however, I must point out that service was extremely slow. We went during the dinner hour on a weekday and the place was fairly non-crowded. I am sorry to say that it took us nearly an hour to even get the food out! It was worth the wait, but be aware that this is definitely not fast food you're getting here.
I have not tried the lunch buffet yet, but I'm willing to bet it makes up for some of the problems we had.
I seriously can't recommend the food highly enough. Anyone who lives in this area should try this restaurant.
I had my first experience with an authenic Indian restaraunt in Ireland with an actual Indian family. This was very close to the taste that we've become accustomed! We loved the food, and the quiet atmosphere. The price wasn't bad and the service was pretty good too. The only dislike, I think the restaruant could use a fresh coat of paint to improve the ambiance.
