The Potpourri House
The Potpourri House was opened in September 1982. We began on Front Street in Tyler in a yellow 1904 Victorian home orginally as a tea room. Owners Les and Carol Ellsworth went on many trips to Europe and England to furnish the restaurant. Everything was for sale, including the table and chairs customers used. Several years later, The Potpourri House moved to the Off Broadway Shopping Center and incorporated a Victorian-themed garden, with a boutique and gift shop that was very similar to what the store is today.
I love this restaurant and I love their food. The spinach salad with strawberry dressing is so good. Real mashed potatoes. Excellent chicken fried chicken. Great coffee. Love the atmosphere around the holidays.
Service was extremly bad orderd tea to drink took awhile to get it,then was never refilled. Spent half the meal with no drink. Wife had a plate meal, I had the salad bar was charged for a desert whether I wanted it are not then had no choice in what i got for desert. It was what they brought out are nothing. The food was no better than any average restraunt food and definatly not worth the cost. Then charged an 18% grautity for servive not deserving 3% was outrageous.
I can eat at most restraunts in town for half the price they were and get alot better service
A very nice place for lunch. I go there a few times a month with coworkers. It's nice to have a little fancier dining experience without being over the top. A little pricier than an average lunch though. I always stick with the buffet - very fresh fruit.
I thought this was going to be a nice little place to eat after reading the reviews, but the food was not very good, way over priced, and the service was probably the worst I've ever had. My entire group left disappointed.
