I agree, the service here is less than quality. The atmosphere is good but the food is nothing to write home about. The fajitas were so over seasoned I could'nt finish them. Not over spicey but it was like the lid had come off of seasoning jar while chef was cooking. My third trip there and will be the last.
I wish I'd have read the reviews before we went because our experience was SO BAD that I must tell everyone about it. Service was virtually non-existent and when I walked around looking for someone to help me I saw a man sitting at the bar, DRINKING A BEER, look up and say he works there. HE WAS THE MANAGER. The series of events that occurred after we were served far outweighed the inferior food and if there is a corporate office, they will be making a visit soon. You have my word.
If you can avoid Cancun Cafe....PLEASE DO!!! I have been there a total of 4 times, and each time just gets worse. Our last visit, we waited about 15 minutes for our waiter to get our drink order. Took forever to get chips, hotsauce, and even our silverware. Had to ask 3 times for tortillas. We ended up walking over to the bar to order alcoholic drinks, and NEVER got them. When we confronted the bartender about this, he says I thought you left!!! The food was the pits, over cooked. My son ordered chicken strips, and they tasted like fish!!! Was another horrible experience, and I will NOT be going back. I'll spend my hard earned money at Mercados from now on!
We received poor customer service at the Cancun Cafe on Sunday, June 29, 2008. The hostess (who was quite helpful throughout the dining fiasco) simultaneously sat three parties in the same section and brought us chips and took our drink order because the waitress was nowhere to be found. When the waitress finally greeted us (20 minutes later), she was polite, yet, aloof. We noticed that she avoided our table and the table next to us, and focused instead on the table in the corner behind us where it appeared that two of her friends were seated. They received excellent service. The waitress took our order, request for refills, and more chips etc. and left. Afterwards, we ran out of napkins, soda, chips, salsa, tortillas etc. My family and the occupants of the next table had to get up to find more napkins and cutlery etc because the waitress didn't come back. We informed the local manager who brought chips, sodas etc. Right after they delivered their chips, the waitress brought us a basket of grease soaked chips, so I asked her to take them back. The other wait staff brought us our food. She continued to ignore us, walking into the room through the door behind us and then, keeping her back to us while she attended to the patrons at the corner table. We had to really exaggerate our movements and repeat, ma'am, ma'am, several times to get her attention, and when she did visit our table, she listened and was quite polite, but didn't follow through with service. I began to feel like a prisoner because I couldn't even get her attention to ask for my check so that I could leave. After I finally got it, and as the young lady processed it, I told her in a normal tone of voice that I had received the worst service in my life and mentioned that this was the first and last time I would come to this restaurant. The general manager overheard me and threatened to call the police if I didn't quit making a scene and leave his establishment. I mentioned to him there were 9 other people in the other room who had the same complaint, having received little or no service whatsoever from this young lady. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a waitress and then threatened by a general manager who refused to give us his name or offer any apology or consolation for the poor customer service we received. The staff further showed their lack of professionalism and disregard for their customers' feelings as they laughed and made jokes at our expense as we left the restaurant.
I don't like the food and HATE the service I receive. I have eaten here many times and the service is always very poor. I have finally had my fill of it and realize it is not an isolated incident. The drink orders take forever, the service in general is slow and the orders most times come out wring. The last time we went, we ordered enchiladas a la carte and were charged full price. When we asked the waitress she shrugged us off and walked away. We will never return. To be fair, I will say they do have some of the cleanest restrooms I've seen in Tyler's food establishments.
Cancun Cafe is a nice restraunt to eat at the value is fair for the portions, but personally I like a lil more meat. the service is ok but the wait staff needs to learn to use a pen and pad when taking orders so as to make sure the order is correct. The food itself was good and not tough like some places. The ambience was nice and it made the place feel kinda festive. The only bad thing is the parking. The way Cancun cafe is the parking is a touch tight, and that makes it hard to see when parking and leaving. Other than that i would say it was and enjoyable experience.
It started off that our Waiter didn 't know we were seated in his section and waited about 5 min before he came and got our drink order. After that it was all up hill and he was right there every 5 min or so asking if there was anything he could get us. It seemed like it was only a few min and our food was right there. I can't wait to go back again soon.
My wife and myself went in a couple of weeks ago and I was very disappointed. It took ten minutes to see our server from the time we were seated. Ten minutes after that, we finally got our drink order. At that time we were ready to order, but he just dropped off the drinks and came back about 5 to 7 minutes later. We did not get our order until 40 minutes later. You had to flag down someone to get a refill on your drinks or chips. The food was not bad, but for the price I feel there are better choices. Like I said, I will probably visit again, but it will be a long while.
My husband & I ate at your restaurant on Wednesday Night February 8, 2006.
The hostess was not at the front to greet us. She finally came and seated us.
We did not receive chips and hot sauce. I went and asked the hostess if we
could have chips and hot sauce. She was polite and said yes she would get them and apologized. The waitress was bartending too - took care of our order and drinks. Like we were abandoned sitting close to the front by ourselves. Food was good, but service was not.
