Gilbert's El Charro Rstrnts, Tyler

I live in Austin and eat El Charro every time I'm in Tyler. Love it! Try the chicken fried steak. Awesome! Yeah, and good margs.

On June 18th, we gave our mother a surprise birthday party and reserved the party room for it...The waiters were INCREDIBLE...wish i had their names to be able to thank them..I live in Plano but grew up in Tyler...When I come to visit my mama, WE ALWAYS COME HERE...FANTASTIC PLACE

The service was ok, but the food was horrible. It was bland and tasteless.

Beat Margaritas on the face of this EARTH!! Best hot sauce EVER. Great chips. Put butter (which is fantastic) on a chip then dip it in the hot sauce. O M G I get The Summer Plate. Very fast service; amazing! A little bit noisy sometimes but well worth the earplugs. I'm glad I don't have their Margarita recipe. I'd be drinking them at home.

I love this place. The only 2 things I do not like are the queso and the smell of the soft tortilla containers. I ask for plates instead.The queso is strange,kinda soupy.

For the price and quality, you can't beat this place for tex-mex. Love the tony's tacos !! I always ask for the HOT hot sauce, it's a really good sauce.... Love the beef taco's too ! Wish they had more selection's of mexican beer though..

Excellent food and service. I like both locations but go to #2 the most.

Have been eating here for over forty years and still the best food ever. Looking at the bad reviews, all anonymous authors, I would imagine are competitors.. Anyone ever to eat here knows the quality is always the very top of the line and the service great. El Charros is more than a place to eat, it is a Tyler Icon.

I've been here maybe ONCE, and NEVER HAVE I BEEN BACK. So should tell YOU that if I as a Mexican my self haven't returned to this restaurant IT IS NOT GOOD AND NOT AUTHENTIC.
