Heard about this place from friends. I went and man was it an experience. Reminded me of the cafe I went to with my parents as a child. The entire staff was so friendly. No put on smile or greeting. Just good service from people who care.
I sat with a couple of locals and they told me they eat here everyday except Sunday. (closed on Sunday) I had ordered lunch and they told me that they ate breakfast and lunch at the grill everyday. They stated that the grill was owned by a man and his wife and that all of the employees were family. The couple said they drove 15 miles one way twice daily to eat here. My food came quickly and it was very good. The lady that brought it asked me if this was my first visit to the grill and I said yes. She said Welcome and I hope you enjoy your visit and the food. The couple told me that the people that owned the cafe were just like family to everyone that came in to eat. I believe that... I feel that this is a family owned business that takes pride in what they do and thier attitude showed that...
I saw a lady go up to the counter and I overheard her ask about someone. The lady at the register told her that he was doing very well and that she appreciated her asking about him. The couple I sat by said that the owners husband had a terrible bout with cancer and that everyone had prayed for his recovery. There was a book on the counter that people could write in and ask for prayer if they wanted. This just made me feel even better about this place. People who actually care about others...
The lady that brought my food came over and asked me if everything was alright and I said it was. I asked her who owned the place and she said she and her husband did. I told her I would bring my family in to eat and that I enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. I have returned several times with my wife and as usual, everything was good. The couple I ate with said they hoped this place never closed. They said the place closed for a week during Christmas and all of the employees got to be with their family during that time. They said they could not find a place that even came close to Cox's for food and friendly service. I actually met several locals and they were all friendly.
I love this place and will continue to go back. The breakfast is very good also. No prepackaged food here. Everything is fresh and homemade. The pie is the best I have had. I looked to see if my grandmother was working in the kitchen !
Sorry to be so long winded but, this place is awesome! We ordered a salad the last time we were in and it was very good. It is the Bo's Salad. My wife is addicted now! Had the chili rice last week and that was very good also. The chili is made by the owner and there must be absolutely no fat in it. It was very tasty and very good. I got a cheeseburger with grilled onions and bacon on it and man was that good. Everything is just so very fresh.
We had read that this place was visited by the health department almost daily. Well, sure enough the health department eats here almost daily... Thats a good sign.
Well, enough for now. We will return on Monday for another good meal.
