My mother and I went to Timothy's about one month ago. Since we are avid fans of Gourmet cooking, we thought we'd try it out to see if it would meet or exceed our expectations. Alas, I was very disappointed. The center seating we had in the middle of the dining area was so dark we could barely see the menu. Compared to the gourmet dining experiences I've had in Europe, and Canada, this by far runs dead last. Nothing worth going back for, in my opinion, as well as my palate. I will say that the dessert of Vanilla Creme Brulee was the highlight of the meal which consisted of Shrimp, Andouille sausage and grits. Too bad it failed to meet the high expectations of their prices. I won't be going back.
I lived in Texarkana for 10 years and can tell you there are few restaurants of this caliber in town when it comes food quality, presentation, preparation and taste. They even make the simple items (pizza) superbly. NO other restaurant in town compares when you combine the above with a great atmosphere, decor and service. One of the great aspects of this restaurant is that you can be equally comfortable in jeans & a T-shirt in the bar as you can in a suit. Whether you enjoy wine or a beer, all feel comfortable here (I know, I'm channelling Dr. Seuss).
I've NEVER been disappointed in the half-dozen times I've been here. It's a bit off the beaten path at the Nash exit, which I consider a plus with Texarkana's traffic near Richmond Road & State Line Ave. I only wish I visited town more often to enjoy this restaurant.
Highly recommended (and no, I am not an employee or paid spokesperson).
