Love, Love, Love their food. I moved to Dallas a little over a month ago and on my first night here my friend and I went to eat there. I have ordered from there atleast once or twice a week every since. In Arlington I use to frequent Jade Cafe (If your ever in Arlington look them up. Wendy is a gem. Excellent!) I was worried about finding anywhere as good since I had been eating there for 7 years. I always recommend this place. I have eaten take out from 2 others close by (skillman wok on Haverwood and Jasmine) Both served bland food and their prices are extremely high. Should you eat at Cathy's Wok (Iron Wok) the sweet and sour chicken is the best.
I ordered here once and will not return ever again. The portions did not match the price, meaning you are getting significantly less food compared to other Chinese restaurants.
As for taste, I would compare this to your average Chinese buffey which may be okay for some, but definately not for me.
The place is great!! My husband and I always get the Seseme Chicken...so great! They have frequent buyers cards, we always fill them up! They recently re-did the inside of the dining area and it looks great! I'm proud to take friends there and eat as well! Cathy's Wok at Frankford and Tollway is wonderful!
My husband and I used to go the Cathy's Wok on Legacy in Plano all the time, even when it was located on 15th and Coit 10 years or so ago, but I am not quite sure what happened. I don't know if it changed ownership or what! The food has gone downhill and is terrible. The kitchen area looks dirty and I know I read one review about seeing rat droppings. The Sesame Chicken, which is supposed to be their most popular, is tough like shoe leather and the sauce they put on it is never consistant in taste. Their egg rolls have always been pretty greasy, but they are now soaking in oil and taste like they have been fried in old grease. Also, read the Dallas Morning News review and you will see it gets 1-1/2 stars, so it has to be pretty bad all the way around. Anyway, since we quit ordering from Cathy's Wok, we have found a real gem of a chinese place by the name of Skillman Wok. You cannot dine in there as it is not a restaurant, just a small take-out place, but you can have it delivered pretty much anywhere in Plano or order it and pick it up yourself. It is located next to the U.S. Post Office at Parker and Coit. Their food is wonderful, consisitant and can't be beat. I promise you will love it. All white meat chicken is used, egg rolls are to die for and not greasy, Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Shrimp and Lobster Sauce are all wonderful. I believe the owner purchases his meat from Hirsch's Meat Market in Plano which sells quality beef only.
Cathy's Wok, get your act together!!
I dined out and had the Mongolian Beef. It is the worst Mongolian Beef I've had, it very well may be that I've had very good Mongolian Beef. It's not awful food, but defiantly not very good. I also thought for a Chinese restaurant, the portions were small. I usually only eat half, but not this time! I might give it another try, but not for awile.
We stumbled upon this place tonight and liked it very much. My wife and I will be going back again and again. The eggplant was seasoned out of this world, in a sweet garlic sauce. I believe it is V4 on the menu. A man at a neighboring table said it was his third time eating there in five days. Excellent.
The food is great. Location is very convenient. The redone interior is very warm and welcoming. Great for dinner and lunch. My kids love it and so do I. The 4 season chicken was the only thing, besides grilled cheese, I could eat during pregnancy.
