I eat here a couple of times a month. The staff is SO friendly and gracioius. I always get the Chinese/Korean soup called Jam Bon noodle soup. I've seen the buffet and it looks great - friends have confirmed. About the soup: It comes in an extra large Pho sized bowl. It starts out with a broth called 3-flavor broth as it is made from beef, chicken and pork. Next in the bowl goes a big pile of “hand pulled” noodles. These noodles are made fresh daily and are about the thickness of linguine squared (two linguine noodles stacked), but are delicious and have a slightly chewy texture. The soup fixins consist of a few chunks of beef, onion, bok choy (Chinese cabbage) and LOTS of cayenne pepper – in fact the broth has a reddish glow to it, but you can ask them to tame it down if you like – unlike my friend, Eric and I who piles in the hot ground chilies in oil from the buffet. Last, but far from least is the generous portion of seafood that comes on top. The default is shrimp, scallops, squid, mussels and clams BUT you can customize just by asking for any of the items you want! You can also have them add sea cucumber, a specialty of Chef Hsu from what I heard. I didn’t like it the first few times I tried it, but now I love it – and all the seafood is very fresh and tasty!
Oh, served before the meal are endless bowls of some of the best kim chi (fermented cabbage with garlic and tons of red pepper and other spices) I’ve eaten along with Korean pickled radish and fresh onion wedges that are delicious when sprinkled with vinegar and dipped in hoisen sauce.
