Walked into this place a couple of Saturdays ago, saw the size (very small) and was prepared to hate this place and told the guy at the door exactly that. We sat down, order their quesadillas (cajundillas?) Excellent! Band was Big Daddy, they were very good too! Drinks a little high priced, but good. Seemed like a lot of people knew each other, but I wouldn't say I felt shunned or looked down on. The ONLY bad thing about this place is it's not BIGGER! You basically dance between tables, on tables, pretty much anywhere you can! If they had had a large dance floor, this place would have kicked ass! I did have to tell the guy at the door as I was leaving that I did have a great time and I will be back. And I will!

I'm still on the fence about this place- intially before the night was over I said I'd never return but the waitress and manager redeemed themselves-( So 3 stars instead of 1) my food was terrible in addition to the fact that the waitress forgot to bring my drink- completely forgot! The manager ending up replacing it with something else and crediting my bill completely. I went there for the band only- if I return it will be for that reason only- i may order a drink (I'm a non alcoholic drinker so my shirley temple was fine) but I didnt like the catfish and the chicken finger replacement was very average. lastly- this place is TINY- so crowded in there- no where to dance but in the aisles.

Just moved here from Atlanta. I was really liking this place until recently. The bouncer who is an ass ole told my girlfriemd that he did not like her attitude and told her she had to leave. Because she was complaining because he let anothert female in, of another race, without showing proper ID. So racist!!!!! Stay away!!!!. White folks do not spend as much money as black folkfs. Pretty soon this will be all white and personalu I enjoy the mixed crowd.

Been going here since '86 - when I got divorced. The crowd has really changed .. used to be they even had valet parking ... lot of high rollers which pretty ladies follow. No more though - either they all got married or - I suspect some were thrown into jail. yep - those rollers do strange things, you know. Now - it's a mixed bag of many colors. Men have told me they get 'approached' by massage therapists, and girls who just 'want to have fun' ... in exchange for ..... but I still go because It is one of the very few places in Dallas that have live music 7 nights a week. And if you're a good tipper, the bartenders remember your name, greet you when you come in and make you feel like you belong - they'll even find you a stool at the small bar. But as most bands go these days, I call them karaoke music in otherwords, instead of someone singing to a music machine, I think most of the bands play to it these days. How can there be the sound of keyboards when there are none on stage? This is one place where you are sure to meet your 'match' - for the evening anyway if you so choose. Something about it - makes it condusive to mixing - maybe it's the music, maybe it's that the place is so small - but if you want to go out and pickup someone - there's a 99% guarantee you'll do it here .. IF you are not 'picky' cuz not too much 'cream of the crop' now. They do have a cover charge which I understand goes to the band. Lot of the better bands don't play here anymore though - This is my most favorite place in Dallas. Most other places the music plays from 8 to midnight but at Memphis, the music starts at 10 and goes until almost 2 a.m. - depending on the group. There are very few times that I don't end up here no matter where I go earlier. Everyone I've ever met - more than once - I've met in this place ... I've even seen Jerry Jones in the bar's day - and I understand quite a few sports figures still hang out - although I don't recognize them but judging from the other women - they do. Lots of diamond earring studs in their ears perhaps? Yah ! a definite 5 star.

Great Little Neighborhood Secret
By Jim, 3/16/07
I recently found this one by invite. I was pleasantly surprised. Quite the little place and the people were very lively. I think this one might be a neighborhood secret. Had the pleasure of catching one of my favorite bands there, Professor D, which I had no idea was going to be playing there. It was very cozy, dark, and you are in very close with whatever band is playing. Several of my favorite local bands were on the schedule to play Memphis. You can eat here as well. I did not try the food, nor are my sure what they even offer. As far as the drinks go, the waitress did an excellent job with the service in a very buzy environment and was very friendly. I would recommend this one for sure! I will be back!

Rude management
By rockin jj, 12/20/06
I went to Memphis pretty often, because I really liked the bands that they had playing regularly, even though the bar service was not very good. It was hard to ever get a drink. One night a careless employee rushed around a corner, knocking me across the room. I was bruised very badly. The management treated the whole incident very poorly; they were extremely inconsiderate. I will never go back there again.

Whatta FUN place
By Leslie, 11/30/06
I'm not big on clubs, but I felt so comfy here! They had a GREAT pop/reggae band playing. It's fairly small, better get a seat early. But I had a ball standing & gettin my groove on. Great mix of clientele. There seemed to be alot of regulars, but everyone was friendly to newcomers. The dance floor is right in front of the stage, which is always fun. Check it out.
