I live in Houston, and every time I m in Dallas, I stop and get some Elaine s. I love their Oxtails w/beans and rice. This location reminds me of Stone in Los Angeles. I eat there and take a plate to go. Very good Jamaican food......
I think the food was better before she moved to her new place. Now all you get for the curry chicken is drumsticks, it used to have some breast meat. I wish they would have stayed in the dive and kept the food good and cheap.
Food is amazing!! Im Jamaican and I havent found anything as good in this area. Those of you that talk about customer service...its just our way of life. We dont mean to be rude, but as a culture we just come off that way. If you dont understand it, you dont have to eat there. Most people dont get it and they think it is very standoffish, but we can help it. I get the same complaints from persons at work, but it is just the way we are. Love it or leave it!!!
Really good food, terrible wait staff. Not a knock on young workers, but they don't seem to have the same work ethics.........the last 3-4 four times, I had to wait until this young lady felt like getting up from the table after standing at the counter for at least 10 minutes. She appeared to care less if I ordered nor wanted to help me.....I tried to order the shrimp stew and she told me we are not cooking that anymore tonight. Fast forward til tonight, I called at 7:42 and was told I couldn't place an order because no one would be there after 8:00pm, I told her I would get there before 8:00. I got a long huff........as good as the food is, I would hate for them to lose customers because of the service.......or lack thereof.
I love Elaine's! I tried the food a few years ago and it stuck with me, and last week we moved to Fort Worth! Now that we're settled and I'm showing my husband around, I'm taking him there for lunch tomorrow!!! He's gonna love it too! I love the jerk chicken and the beef and chicken patties!!!!
I tried the curry goat and I was shocked how average their curry seasonings were. It was missing some ingredients and it tasted like they tried to cover up the bland taste of their curry gravy by adding and extra pound of salt. Next time I will save me a trip and just go to
Jamaica Gates. I won't travel from Keller to eat their but if I am ever in that area I will stop in for a Chicken Patty? ($1.85 is too expensive).
Great food, friendly staff, but they do not have any urgency. May be the Caribbean culture. They never return calls pertaining to catering for large parties or quotations. Do not expect to get feedback on quotations or pricing. Need to have a more business operation oriented sense or maybe they have their hands full.
I have been eating at this place since 1988 and the consistency of excellent remains. I have to come back every time for my piece of the finest in authentic jamaican cuisine. Now my children comes to this place to sample a piece of their heritage.
Awesome atmosphere and the food leaves your palate very satisfied. The new location is more spacious, great staff too. Great job Ms. Elaine, keep up the good work! My favorites are Ox-Tail, Stew Fish and Curry Goat. OOOH and let's not forget Ms. Elaine's homemade carrot juice, lemonade and fruit punch. Lots of food at reasonable prices!
