Great Hotel BUT...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/14/11
It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at http://referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

If the food in heaven is this good, take me now!
By David, 5/13/09
I took visiting relatives to The Mansion restaurant a few weeks ago for a special "welcome" dinner. It is difficult to give justice to the food and service we received. All the menu items looked so good, we ended up sampling each other's food! What a treat! The Mansion staff excel in what they do best, providing a special and memorable evening! I can't wait to return.

Not what it used to be:(
By Marshall, 3/24/09
Since we hadn't been in a while, we decided to celebrate our father's birthday here. We were seated on the inside patio, which was lovely and quiet. The first thing we all noticed was how informal the table was--not cloth, only placemats. It was a teak patio furniture table. Really? At The Mansion? Maybe for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, but absolutely not for dinner. For a restaurant the caliber of The Mansion, that seemed a little casual to us. Then the server forgot to change my mother's appetizer order, and we had to wait an additional ten minutes for them to bring her the right food while we all sat and looked at ours. Dinner was good, not great. I live in Southern CA, so maybe my expectations are just too high. The worst part was trying to get our car. When we checked in, they took our name instead of giving us a claim check. We told them our name and the type of vehicle, and they brought us someone else's car! Meanwhile, they'd brought this little old couple their car (a high-end SUV) and the lady got in. Because she was so small she couldn't reach the door. I ran over (in 4 inch heels) to close it so she wouldn't topple out. There were 4 attendants there and not a one in sight to help them into their car. Not good. At any rate, after watching 4 other couples get their vehicles we finally got ours. The atomosphere is lovely, but the service seems to be lacking for the reputation. This place is an institution, a landmark. It should strive a little harder to live up to it.

What Happened When I went:
By I love my pets!, 6/30/07
I went once when I was about 5 or 6. And I wanted to get a Cheesecake. It took about a hour, and me and my dad kept going down to the resturant and back up to our hotel room. And why it took so long, was because they wrote my name in Chocolate "Allison" and had flowers on the sides too on the plate. I still have that plate. It was a truly great experience, that I will never forget.

I liked everything from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. This place is like a dream. I will remember this stay for the rest of my life, and smile.

What a let down
By rocky, 5/18/07
I took my girlfriend to the restaurant for her birthday last year and we were not impressed. I've heard about this place for my entire life so it did have a lot to live up to. The meal was $300 for both of us but I am more impressed with Bellini's $20 Veal Parmesian a block away. The food was not bad, but it was not fantastic. They put us in a hallway in between dining rooms so there was constant traffic running by our table. Frankly, there was nothing "special" about this place. We live a block away and we don't intend to go back. There's alot of other places in the neighborhood that are much appealing.
