We have eaten at those fly-by-night Chinese restaurants that have all the traditional foods but you can't tell if it's items on the menu and buffet, you will not experience that feeling at Szechwan Pavilion Chinese Restaurant
this is kind of a tough review to write.
basically - this is where i go when i want bad chinese food. seriously. i mean i do go here, i choose to, i like it. sometimes i want bad chinese food. you know what i mean. the kind they serve in america at a strip mall with a buffet. i used to go to a place called dragon pearl on ross before that center got renovated. i used to refer to it as 'the greasy dragon'. since that closed, i've been going to szechwan pavilion and it serves the same purpose. its where i go when i want to eat more food than i should, greasy and of questionable quality. it's not fine dining. i can't give it 5 stars. i almost want to give it 4 stars due to the hostess singing when someone has a birthday - but you don't see that every visit. if you happen to be there at that time, it's probably 4 stars. i hope i'm not rating too tough. it is what it is and i like it. kind of like how i like jack in the box and their deep fried tacos.
Great neighborhood restaurant for over 20 years. Amazing that the best chinese food I've ever had is only a few blocks from my house. Jane is a charming hostess who helps celebrate holidays with singing. Recommend!
the food is getting real tired as is their staff. they are well known to the neighborhood crowd as re-using the lunch buffet (left-overs) on the dinner buffet and then re-using the dinner buffet (left-overs) for the next day lunch buffet. they watch your trips to the buffet and slap the check on your table following 2 x at the buffet. we are done w/them. they need to leave the area and give up the space for a more suitable establishment for the shopping center.
The first time, We when was my daughter was 7 yrs old. We make it for our girls day out since than its her favorite chinese restaurant.. She is now 20yrs old, so that should tell you something. Only thing we don't like is its not open late.
