Ozona Grill & Bar
Ozona Grill & Bar is a favorite place for those looking for a laid-back atmosphere and a grill with great food. The Sunday brunch draws a large and loyal crowd. Wood floors and tin tabletops make this a mountaineer's dream. It's a very ski lodge-like place complete with wood-burning fireplaces. The Chicken Fried Steak is the best in town. The Tacos al Carbon are a hit, as is the Chicken Pasta Salad. On Sundays, there's a 'build your own Bloody Mary bar' to complement the brunch menu.
From the valet to the bar, food and service, Ozona was consistently BAD! I've been going there for years and my last visit - will be my last. It's a bunch of pissed off kids running the show. Great Atmosphere but drinks were bad, food was decent but the attitude of the waiter (who I had to practically tackle to get service) made everything worse. Valet was backed up for 10 minutes at least. This is the only review I have ever written. That's how bad Ozona has gotten. Please seek new management.
we asked to sit inside and as the hostess rolled her eyes she walked us past 15 open seats in the main dining area where the music was playing and sports were on the flatscreens...past the other dining room where people were laughing and talking to each other...all the way to the very back hidden away from everyone in a room by ourselves with no music, tv, conversation........walked out and will never
f!$@ing go back...f$%@ OZONAS
Average food and decent prices are more than offset by lousy service across the board. The only draw for me is their patio, where I can smoke a cigar and have the occasional beer if/when I'm able to find a waiter/waitress and get a refill. Although service was actually pretty decent the last time I went about a month ago, that was definitely the exception. I'm not sure if they hire inexperienced wait staff to keep costs down or they just have consistently lousy management.
I like the bar and restaraunt. Have been their many times. Thats what makes this so sad. On Monday (Dollar Marg night) we went with another couple. Ordered dollar margs with dinner. Enjoyed our meal and evening until the bill came. They charges us $5 for each drink insted of 1. So we had to pay for $40 instead of $ 8 (2 drinks each person). We politely told our waiter the problem and then out came Mike the manager. He refused to do anything to fix their mistake. Even the server agreed what we had ordered. He was petty and small. A terrible employeee let alone manager. He would not rectify at all. I will let you know how it goes with his bosses. I hope to report back that it was fixed.
The over all set up at Ozona,s is pleasing from the low lights in the trees, wooden deck, a very nice out door rock fireplace, huge liveoak trees that cover the entire outdoor seating area, soft rock music being played over hidden speakers, soft breeze fans circulating air through out the deck area, all of this just in the outdoor seating area. Inside has at least three bars within a few feet of inside seting area. They have a live band stage with bar, dancing floor area, seperate from the softer area outside. My wife and I choose mexican food from their tex-mex menu. I had the mexican platter with chicken enchilada and the shrimp chilli releno that was delicious and my wife had the turkey wrap with artichoke and said it also was delicious. Our waitress was pleasant and quick to refill and offered good advice to choose the kentucky pecan/coconut pie with vanilla ice cream. The average age of the customers was 25-55 y.o. The live band played some great 60-70's rock music while customers danced on the floor doing the twist and the band Aristocrats played and inpersonated some great moves by Elvis, worthwhile to go back and listen to band again just for fun. hats off to Ozona for a pleasant evening.
I went with my family for a Mother's Day dinner and had the worst service I have ever had in my life. The waiter acted like he was on some other planet and we recieved our entrees along with our appetizers, soups, and salads. As my dinner group proceeded to explain this to the waiter and MANAGER we were COMPLETELY snubbed. We tried to express how awkward it was with the table being so crowded with everything and still..completley snugged with no apologies. We collectively decided to eat the entrees first in fear that they would get cold sitting there on the table while we ate the appetizers. Needless to say the appetizers, soups, and salads were wasted. We explained everything to the poor excuse for a manager. No compenation was offered nor apology. They still billed us for everything and the manager did not once apologize. Along with our scenario the entire room had also recieved their appetizers along with their meals. The spreading word throughout this room was mixed with dissapointment and pure anger.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not go to this restaurant.
Before we left we asked the manager the name of his manager in which he refused the name. I don't know where he was from, but he seriously needs a class in customer service. And if you've been there before and you see a bald manager..that was him.
I seriously feel for each and every one of you who have experienced these issues.
If you are looking to go to a place where you get all your food at once and no drink refills..then have at it. If you are looking to go to a place where you're continuously ignored and disregarded then go here!!
Needless to say, I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN!!!!!!!!
