I live in the area, and this has been one of my family s favorite places for years. The food is inexpensive and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the low-fat spaghetti if you re trying to eat light. The service is never stellar, and sometimes it s really slow. But everyone is friendly enough - I just don t think they adequately staff the place. So the food gets 5 stars, and the service gets 2. But as long as you go in there with the right expectations, you ll come out satisfied.
We ate at Cafe Amore for lunch and were very pleased. The waitress was sufficiently attentive and the food was awesome!
At the beginning of the meal we received fluffy bread rolls that looked like cinnamon rolls and some type of dipping sauce with olive oil, balsamic and spices. The bread was delicious enough to eat on it's own, but the dipping sauce was the special part. It was lighter and more tasty than most sauces made with olive oil so I'm assuming that something was added to the oil. Usually I eat the bread without the dipping sauce, but not this time!
For the main course, I had a side of pasta with marinara and a side of steamed vegetables. The pasta had plenty of sauce and was delicious, but the vegetables were the best thing about the whole meal! They were perfectly steamed to seal in the taste and still be satisfyingly crisp. All you vegetarians out there know how hard it is to find steamed vegetables that are steamed to perfection. I had to use restraint to keep my eyes from rolling back in my head!
I also want to mention the comfy chairs. They don't have booths (at least in the front where we sat), but the chairs are deeply padded and have wheels so they're as comfortable as a booth, but easier to get in and out of.
The utensils and tableware were clean! I'm very picky about the cleanliness of my eating utensils and Cafe Amore passed my inspection.
This restaurant is no Terrilli's as far as atmosphere goes, but it's a nice find while I'm still mourning for Terrilli's.
The food was good. And the waiter's were nice but did not always refill drinks very fast. I did not like that we had a reservation and upon getting there we had to wait becuase they seemed to not have made our reservation. Another dislike was that th manager's yelled at some of the workers in front of our group.
This is the first time (and possible last) that I went to eat at Cafe Amore. My friend had made a reservation for 5 people a week ago, upon entering the restaurant, (which was very crowded, and I don't think it's made for lots of people to be in the restaurant at the same time), the 2 servers/hostesses seemed put upon and harried that we were there for a reservation. Our reservation was for 7pm, however it was after 7 when they finally seated us. They put the tables together while we were waiting.
The service we received was dismal, the waitress took our drink orders, and forgot to bring an extra wine glass. I'm thinking if the restaurant is too busy, it might reflect upon the type of service you receive. The food was great, I do have one complaint, I ordered the Chicken Aristocrat, and the thing was drenched in a white cream sauce, but as soon as I tasted the chicken, I could taste why, the chicken was a bit too tough for my liking. Our waitress was somewhat attentive to us, but not to my liking. I don't like a server who hovers either, I'd like somebody who actually cares that they're serving us, however she seemed flitty and not all there.
Once we paid, we sat talking for a few minutes, and we were interrupted by one of waiters/hosts, asking us to leave because there were people waiting for a table. That was rude. I don't think I have ever dined any place where we were asked to leave like that. It's not our fault the establishment can't possibly handle a lot of customers at once.
I don't believe I'll be coming to this place again, and if I do, it'll have to be at another location, because this was a terrible first experience.
Last night was the second time we tried to eat here. As the employees stood around talking we waited about 5 minutes before we got a table. When we finally did get a table no one acknowledged us. This was the second and last time we will try this restaurant. There is a really good Italian place at Belt Line and 75 where you can actually get waited on.
I don't recommend this restaurant. We had a dinner over there last night and we almost waited for 45 minute to get our food. They don't have a good service at all and the food didn't have a good quality.
